At present, there are several problems in primary school students' extracurricular reading of mathematics: ① No reading, teaching textbooks are only used to copy exercises and exercises, not to mention extracurricular reading of mathematics. (2) Reading, passing by, like reading novels and cartoons, without thinking or exploring. (3) The language level is low, the grammatical structure is unclear, and reading is difficult. ④ Mathematical language and vocabulary are difficult to understand, and there are many reading obstacles. ⑤ Interest is easily transferred, easily interfered by the outside world, and has poor persistence. In this regard, the author combined with his own practical experience, summed up the following three practices.
(A) to stimulate interest in reading, advocating mathematics reading
The new curriculum standard attaches great importance to students' extracurricular reading and language accumulation, and clearly stipulates the reading amount of students. However, when it comes to reading, most students frown. So, how can we make students like reading and consciously read after class?
1. Let students love reading. Interest is the best teacher, especially for students who have just started studying. Teachers should try their best to stimulate their interest in reading. First of all, a good reading atmosphere is the basis of cultivating interest. In order to create an atmosphere, a "Mathematics Reading Salon" can be held, and it is stipulated that 20 minutes after lunch every day is the time for mathematics reading, so that students can bring some good mathematics magazines (such as study guide newspaper and primary school mathematics newspaper) to school and exchange reading with other students. At first, tell some math stories to the students. After listening, ask some simple questions to test it. If you answer correctly, you will get a "star of wisdom" award. After a period of time, let students collect materials and tell them to other students, then introduce a novel problem, a good way to solve the problem, and tell a touching story of a mathematician ... so that they fall in love with extracurricular reading. Over time, there is an atmosphere of reading in the class. Students' interest in reading has improved, their enthusiasm for taking math classes has also improved, and their knowledge has been broadened.
2. Introduce good books to students. A good extracurricular reading can often improve students' interest in reading, arouse their curiosity and stimulate their enthusiasm for learning. Therefore, when introducing extracurricular reading materials to students, teachers must pay attention to whether the knowledge and interest of books are combined, and pay attention to readability, so that the difficulty of reading materials can adapt to their own abilities as much as possible, so that students will be interested in reading. Generally speaking, the thinking of junior students is mainly figurative thinking, and they are more interested in fairy tales and fables. You can recommend fable and mathematics, creative mathematics game book, Me+ mathematics = cleverness, etc. In the middle and senior grades, students' thinking gradually changes from concrete thinking in images to abstract thinking in logic. When choosing extracurricular reading materials, you can recommend children's math wisdom stars, 100 math stories, interesting math, etc. In addition, in the process of recommending books, we should also pay attention to the relationship between mathematics and other disciplines and the breadth of students' interests, and recommend popular science books such as "100,000 Why" and "Space Expo" to them to meet the needs of children's all-round development.
3. Use the language of encouragement and evaluation to improve students' reading enthusiasm. Teachers' teaching words and deeds will have a great influence on students' learning, especially the lower grade students. Some guiding or enlightening evaluation languages will significantly improve students' enthusiasm for mathematics reading. For example, "You read so carefully! You know so much about mathematics! Through reading, you found so many rules! Read carefully and look from the bottom up. What else can you find? " Wait a minute.
(2) Change the way of reading and advocate reading communication.
There are many ways to read math. The process of reading is a process of feeling and understanding mathematical thinking methods, a process of broadening horizons and a process of changing students' attitude towards mathematics. Considering the age characteristics of students and the actual basis of mathematics reading, flexible learning methods such as concentration and dispersion, listening and self-reading should be adopted in mathematics reading to adapt to students' thinking and study life, and at the same time, efforts should be made to cultivate students' reading autonomy.
Students' mathematics foundation, reading ability and learning consciousness are different. Teachers can organize students to exchange experiences and understandings of mathematics reading from time to time, which will be of great benefit to improve students' reading ability and interest. Generally speaking, the learning atmosphere of the class group and the influence of like-minded students will affect the learning of other students in a tangible or intangible way. Therefore, teachers should guide correctly, truly embody the principle of taking students as the main body and teachers as the leading role in reading activities, do everything possible to mobilize students' enthusiasm, encourage students to exchange and discuss with each other, and provide them with an exchange environment for mutual learning.
(3) Actively encourage innovation and advocate reading practice.
There are not many extracurricular reading materials in mathematics, but some good reading materials will subtly cultivate students' interest in mathematics and stimulate them to think. Even if you swallow dates at first, you will gradually understand them after several times, because learning is a gradual process. After reading, let students practice, boldly try and explore what they have seen, and deepen their understanding of the knowledge and thinking methods gained in reading. For example, measuring the volume of feet, many students spontaneously want to try, imitate, measure the volume of hands, or something else. Although it is mainly imitation, it is not meaningless, because there are many elements of active learning and self-thinking. After more than two years of practical activities, students have a very strong interest in mathematics extracurricular reading. According to statistics, every student reads 4. 1 book, and every student owns 2 1.02 books. Students' habit of reading math extracurricular books has basically formed, which has promoted the reading of knowledge content and exercises in math textbooks.
Ye Shengtao said: "Teaching is to not teach." In order to achieve the goal of mathematics quality education and enable students to study independently, we must attach importance to mathematics extracurricular reading. In primary school, teachers must start with extracurricular reading of mathematics, so that students can have good reading habits and unique thinking methods, and lay a solid foundation for students' "lifelong learning".
