In fact, arithmetic and mathematics are both related and different. Arithmetic includes addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of integers, decimals and fractions and its application in daily life and production. Arithmetic does not talk about negative numbers, nor does it talk about algebraic operations composed of letters.

If negative numbers sum equations, that is the content of algebra; If there are many properties of graphics, it is the content of geometry. Arithmetic, algebra and geometry are all subjects of mathematics. There are many branches of mathematics, such as calculus, number theory, set theory, probability theory and so on.

Three main types of mathematical definition

Known as logicians, intuitionists and formalists, each of them reflects a different school of philosophical thought. Everyone has serious problems, no one generally accepts it, and no reconciliation seems feasible.

The early definition of mathematical logic is Benjamin Peirce's Science of Drawing Inevitable Conclusions (1870). In Principles of Mathematics, Russell and alfred north whitehead put forward a philosophical program called logicism, trying to prove all mathematical concepts.
