College entrance examination is a qualification examination for candidates to enter and choose universities, and it is also one of the most important national examinations in China. It is organized by the state, proposed by specialized agencies, and carried out simultaneously. There are three forms: college entrance examination, self-taught examination and adult college entrance examination. The most important exam in People's Republic of China (PRC) (except Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan). College entrance examination is the qualification standard for candidates to choose and enter universities, and it is also one of the national education examinations. The examination form is a closed book.
According to statistics, candidates must carefully read and memorize the Analects of Confucius, Mencius, The Book of Songs, The Book of Rites and Zuo Zhuan, with more than 400,000 words. In addition, candidates should also read several times the original notes, as well as other classics, history books and literature books that must be read.
In ancient times, there were four subjects to be studied in the "College Entrance Examination", namely, eight-part essay, exam-oriented poem and Confucian classics. The topics of the eight-part essay are mainly taken from four books: The University, The Doctrine of the Mean, The Analects of Confucius and Mencius. Trial post poem is a kind of poetic style. In the exam, a poem and idiom of the ancients are used as the topic, a rhyme is defined, and a poem is written, the content of which is to praise national affairs. The full name of the college entrance examination is the national unified examination for enrollment of ordinary colleges and universities.
