Southern Zhejiang, that is, the southern part of Zhejiang Province, is the old Wenzhou, Taizhou and Chuzhou, and is generally referred to as Wenzhou in modern times. The area is mainly composed of three coastal plains: Huangwen Plain, Wen Rui Plain and Aojiang Plain. Plain area is an important extension of the land of plenty in the south of the Yangtze River, with dense water networks and criss-crossing rivers.
There are many bays, beaches and islands here, including Sanmen Bay, Taizhou Bay, Aiwan, Yueqing Bay, Wenzhou Bay and Dayu Bay.

Wenzhou, referred to as "Wen" or "Ou" for short, is a prefecture-level city in Zhejiang Province, one of the 27 cities in the central area of the Yangtze River Delta, an important commercial city and a regional central city in the southeast coast of China approved by the State Council.
As of 20 18, the city has jurisdiction over four districts, five counties and three county-level cities, with a total area of 1 16 12.94 square kilometers. At the end of 20 19, the permanent population of the city was 9.3 million, including 3.052 million in the urban area. The urbanization rate is 70.5%, with a total registered population of 8.324 million and a permanent population of 2.97 million.
