The new English Curriculum Standard (Experimental Draft) issued by the Ministry of Education puts forward clear grading requirements for the development of primary and secondary school students' reading ability. 1 ~ 9 grades correspond to primary school to senior three respectively, and determines the range of reading vocabulary, idioms and styles at all levels, as well as the levels of reading questions and reading ability development.
Because of the heavy schoolwork, middle school students seldom have the opportunity and energy to directly collect and read wonderful and practical articles in English newspapers and books. With the development of English reading ability and the requirements of examination, they urgently need a set of English extracurricular reading series which reflects the reading ability requirements of all grades, has a moderate vocabulary and new words, and is interesting and practical.
