1963 studied at Chongqing Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture (merged into Chongqing University). Just one year before graduation, the "Cultural Revolution" began. His father was put in the bullpen and sent home by train to visit his father because he missed his criticized father. His father enjoined him to continue his studies. After returning to Chongqing, he taught himself computer, digital technology, automatic control and other professional technologies. He also did Fan Yingchuan's set of advanced mathematics exercises twice from beginning to end, and then learned a lot of logic and philosophy. He taught himself three foreign languages, and by then he was able to read college textbooks.
After graduating from college, he became a soldier and a construction worker. The first project of being a soldier was that of a French company. At that time, the French company de Behnes Besim sold a set of chemical fiber equipment to China, located in Liaoyang, northeast of China. Ren was there from the beginning of the project to the completion of production, and then left.
1983, with the national system reform, the infrastructure engineers were abolished and transferred to Shenzhen Nanhai Petroleum Logistics Service Base.
1987, due to unsatisfactory work, he turned to raise 2 1000 yuan to set up Huawei. In the early days of its establishment, Huawei won the first pot of gold by acting as an agent for a program-controlled switch of a Hong Kong company.
1992 Ren put all his eggs in one basket into the research and development of C&C08 machine tools.
At the end of 1993, the C&C08 switch was finally developed successfully. Its price is two-thirds lower than that of similar foreign products, which has occupied the market for Huawei.
1In March, 1996, Ren led a team of more than 10 to stay in Shangri-La, Belgrade, in order to discuss joint venture projects with Yugoslavia. They booked a presidential suite, and the room rate is about $2,000 per day. However, this room is not exclusive to Ren, but everyone sleeps on the floor together.
On June 23, 2003, Cisco formally sued Huawei and its American branch on the grounds that the latter copied the company's products and infringed their intellectual property rights. In the face of Cisco's suppression, Ren hired a lawyer to respond to the lawsuit in the United States, and at the same time began to form an alliance with Cisco's arch-enemy 3COM Company in the United States. In March 2003, Huawei and 3COM, which was in recession at that time, announced the establishment of a joint venture company "Huawei Sankang". The CEO of 3COM made a special trip to testify that Huawei did not infringe Cisco's intellectual property rights. In the end, the two sides reached a settlement.
At the beginning of 2007, Ren wrote to Peng, CEO of IBM, hoping that IBM would send financial personnel to help Huawei realize the transformation of its financial management model.
2011/February, Ren published an article "One River Flows East" in Huawei's internal forum to reveal Huawei's shareholding system. Ren revealed that the design of this system was influenced by parents' selflessness, frugality, patience and love. Ren also founded Huawei's CEO rotation system, and everyone rotates for half a year. This move is to avoid that the success or failure of the company depends on one person, and also to avoid being a courtier once.
