1: Focus on the structure of reading.
It should be noted here that these notes mainly focus on the structure of the book, not the content-at least not the details. Therefore, we call this kind of notes structural notes.
In the process of reading, especially a long and difficult book, you may catch some ideas that the author wants to express on this topic. But usually you can't do that. And unless you really read the whole book, you shouldn't draw conclusions about the accuracy and rationality of this book. After that, when you do analytical reading, you will have to answer questions about the accuracy and significance of this book. At this level of reading, your notes are no longer related to structure, but to concepts. These concepts are the author's opinions, and when you read more deeply and widely, you will also have your own opinions.
Step 2 review reading
When you read a book by reading, you may not have much time to take notes. Studying reading, as we said before, time spent is always limited. Even so, when you read this level, you will still ask some important questions, and it is best to write down the answers when you remember them clearly-just sometimes you can't.
When studying reading, the questions to be answered are: First, what kind of book is this? Second, what is the whole book talking about? Thirdly, what overall framework does the author use to develop his views or state his understanding of this topic? You should take notes and write down the answers to these questions. Especially if you know that one day, maybe a few days or months later, you will pick up this book again for analysis and reading, so it is more important to write down the questions and answers first. The best place to take these notes is the table of contents page, or the title page, which is not used in the note-taking method mentioned earlier.
3. Dialectical notes
Structural notes and conceptual notes are completely different. And when you are reading several books at the same time and doing theme reading-reading many different books on the same theme, what kind of notes do you want to take? Similarly, such notes should also be conceptual. The page number you wrote in the blank of the book is not only the page number of this book, but also the page numbers of several other books.
For a professional reader who has been proficient in reading several books on the same subject at the same time, there is a higher level of note-taking method. This is a record of the discussion-many authors participated in this discussion, and they may not always observe their participation. We will discuss this in detail in the fourth article. We like to call such notes dialectical notes. Because this is summarized from many books, not one book, it usually needs to be recorded on a separate piece of paper. At this point, we will use the conceptual structure again-list all relevant statements and questions in order on a single topic. We will come back to discuss such notes in chapter 20.
Three methods of fast reading training
1. The card flashes.
Write a short sentence or idiom on each card (gradually increase the length of the sentence), and repeat it immediately after flashing it in a very short time.
It's best for two people to practice together and prepare cards for each other. The training effect is better.
2. Read in groups.
Divide a paragraph of text into phrases or phrases, separate them with vertical lines, and then send them quickly and step by step in units of divided phrases or phrases.
Show it in sentences and repeat it after reading each stage.
It should be noted that no matter how big the division unit is, it must be read at a glance, and the line of sight is not allowed to move!
3. Schulte table fast counting method.
Schulte table is a chart used in psychology to study and develop psychological perception speed (see figure)
Requirements:
(1) Keep the eye at a distance of 30 cm from the point.
(2) Focus on the center of the right table and take care of the whole table in the corner.
③ Keep your eyes still and silently read the numbers 1-25 in the table in turn in less than 25 seconds.
