Unified requirements for the format of graduate dissertations

Dissertation is the main manifestation of graduate students' scientific research achievements. It shows the new inventions, new theories or new ideas obtained by the author in his research work, is an important basis for graduate students to apply for master's or doctoral degrees, is also an important document in the field of scientific research, and is a valuable asset of society.

In order to improve the writing quality of graduate dissertations, and make the content and format of dissertations more standardized, according to the national standard "Dissertation Writing Rules", the following provisions are made:

First, the paper content requirements

Postgraduate dissertations should be written in Chinese. Generally, the number of words in master's dissertations is 40,000-50,000, and the number of master's dissertations is 20,000-50,000. The word number of doctoral dissertations is generally 80 ~ 65438+ million (see other regulations for word number requirements of doctoral dissertations for medical postgraduates). The content of the paper should be complete and accurate, with distinct levels, reliable data, concise words, thorough explanation, rigorous reasoning and correct arguments; Simplified characters and legal units of measurement formally promulgated and implemented by the state should be adopted. The terms, symbols and codes used in this paper must be unified and meet the requirements of standardization. If new technical terms, abbreviations and idioms are used in the article, they should be noted. New foreign technical terms and abbreviations must be indicated in brackets after translation. The illustrations and photos of the paper must be copied or microfilmed. The page number of the paper should be from? Introduction? Several cases (including introduction, text, references, appendices, thanks, etc.). ) is encoded in Arabic numerals; Summary page, table of contents page, list of illustrations and charts, descriptions of symbols and abbreviations, etc. , respectively, coded with Arabic numerals.

The content of the paper should generally consist of fifteen main parts, namely: 1. Cover (including title page); 2. Title page; 3. The original statement of the paper; 4. Power of attorney for the use of paper copyright; 5. List of thesis defense committees and defense resolutions; 6. Chinese abstract; 7. English abstract; 8. content; 9. Symbol description; 10. The text of the paper; 1 1. References; 12. Notes; 13. Appendix; 14. 15. Catalogue of academic papers published during degree study. The specific requirements of each part are as follows:

1. Cover page (including title page)

Use the cover uniformly distributed by the graduate school, and fill in the title of the paper (no more than 20 words), the name of the author, the name of the instructor, the discipline (major), the engineering field (filled in by the master of engineering), the date of defense (or the date of submission of the paper), etc. The above contents should also be clearly filled in on the title page, and the graduate student number should be added. Graduates of professional degrees should indicate the name of the professional degree they are applying for.

Avoid using uncommon abbreviations, acronyms, characters, codes, formulas, etc. Title words must consider the secondary literature which is helpful for keyword selection and title and abstract compilation, and can provide specific practical information for retrieval. The topics in the paper should be exactly the same. If the dissertation is funded by a fund, the fund should be indicated below the topic. Footer? Location.

2. Title page

The title page should be placed on the second cover, which is the basis for recording the dissertation. In addition to all the contents on the cover, the title page should also include keywords, funded projects, research direction, degree level (doctor or master) applied for, training unit, etc.

3. Original statement of the paper

The full text of the statement can be downloaded from the internet and will take effect after being signed by the author of the paper.

4. Authorization to use paper copyright

The full text of the power of attorney can be downloaded from the internet and will take effect after being signed by the author of the dissertation and the instructor.

5. List of thesis defense committees and defense resolutions

The name list of the thesis defense committee and the defense resolution must be signed by all the defense members and the chairman of the defense committee, and a copy can be attached to the paper.

6. Chinese abstract (including keywords)

The Chinese abstract should state the contents of the dissertation concisely, without comments and annotations. They contain the basic information in dissertations and reflect the core idea of scientific research. They are independent and self-sufficient, that is, they can obtain the necessary information without reading the full text of dissertations. There are data and conclusions in the abstract, which is a complete essay and can be used and quoted independently. The content should generally explain the purpose and significance of this scientific research work, research methods, experimental methods, research results, results and final conclusions, highlight the results and conclusions, and pay attention to highlighting the innovative achievements and new insights in the paper. The content should contain the main information equivalent to reports and papers, so that readers can determine whether it is necessary to read the full text, and it can also be used by secondary documents (abstracts, etc.). ). Chinese abstracts are generally not more than 500 words (master's thesis) or 800 words (doctoral thesis). In case of special needs, the number of words can be slightly more.

7. English abstract (including keywords)

The contents of English abstracts (including thesis topics) should basically correspond to Chinese abstracts, conform to English grammar, and be fluent in sentences and words. The number of words in an English abstract is calculated by content words, generally not exceeding 300 (master's thesis) or 500 (doctoral thesis), but slightly more if special needs arise. Generally, unknown and commonly used figures, tables, chemical structures, symbols and terms are not used in Chinese literature.

8. Content

The table of contents should arrange chapter titles in the text in turn, and the titles should be concise and to the point. Each line of the table of contents page consists of a title name and a page number, including introduction (or preface), main contents of the article, chapters, articles, paragraphs, item numbers and titles, abstracts, (cited) references, notes, appendices, bibliography, indexes, etc. If there are many charts in the paper, you can list them separately and put them after the table of contents page. The list of drawings shall have serial number, title and page number. The list of forms should have serial number, title and page number.

9. Symbol description

The meaning and unit (or size) represented by the symbols used in this paper.

Notes on symbols, marks, abbreviations, acronyms, units of measurement, nouns, terms, etc. What needs to be collected can be concentrated after the chart list.

10. The text of the paper

The text of the paper is the main body and core part of the paper, occupying the main length, and generally consists of five parts: title, text description, chart, table and formula. The writing forms can be different according to the nature of scientific research projects, generally including investigation objects, experimental and observation methods, instruments and equipment, original data, experimental and observation results, calculation methods and programming principles, data and materials, processed charts, formed arguments and derived conclusions, etc.

Because there are great differences in the subjects, topics, research methods, workflow and expression of results involved in the research work, it is impossible to make uniform provisions on the content of the text. However, it must be realistic, objective and true, accurate and complete, clear in logic, concise and easy to read.

1 1. Reference

References are a collection of documents that cite specific text sources in the text, and should be listed in the order in which the references appear in the text, either at the end of each chapter or at the end of the text. It conforms to GB 77 14 "Rules for the Description of References".

When quoting other people's scientific research achievements, we should pay special attention to explaining them at the quotation place to avoid plagiarism.

12. Notes

Comments can be recorded as footnotes at the bottom of the page, but they should not be noted in the body.

13. Appendix

The appendix is a supplement to the main body of the paper and is unnecessary. The contents of the appendix are roughly as follows:

(1) For the integrity of the whole paper, if it is incorporated into the text, it will be harmful to the organization and logic of the arrangement. This material includes more detailed information than the text, a more in-depth description of research methods and techniques, a recommended bibliography that can be read, and supplementary information useful for understanding the content of the text.

(2) The material is too large or drawn from a copy, which is not easy to blend into the text.

(3) Rare and precious materials that are not easy to be included in the text.

(4) materials that are not necessary for the general reader to read, but are of reference value to the professional peers.

(5) Some important original data, mathematical derivation, calculation programs, block diagrams, structural diagrams, notes, statistical tables, computer printouts, etc.

thank you

Generally after the text, including the following:

(1) Research work funded or supported by National Science Foundation and Scholarship Fund, and funded or supported by contracting units, enterprises, organizations or individuals.

(2) organizations or individuals that assist in the completion of research work and provide convenient conditions.

(3) for those who give advice and help in research work.

(4) The owner of materials, pictures, documents, research ideas and ideas has the right to reprint and quote.

(five) other organizations and individuals that should be thanked. Thanks should be realistic and avoid grandiose and vulgar words.

15. Catalogue of academic papers published during degree study

List the academic papers (publication name, volume number, page number, year and month, and paper signature) published or employed by me during my degree study in chronological order. Among them, the category of publications should be made clear, such as: whether it belongs to academic publications stipulated by our school; Whether the signature unit of the paper is Shanghai Jiaotong University and the order of the authors.

Second, the specification of thesis writing

1. The contents on the cover should be printed in a uniform format and requirements, and must be correct. The title of the paper shall not exceed 20 Chinese characters.

2. The Chinese abstract of the master's degree thesis is about 500 words. The Chinese abstract of doctoral thesis is about 800 words.

(1) The title of the paper is in bold type No.3, which can be divided into 1 or 2 lines for center printing.

(2) Print a blank line in the center under the title of the paper? Abstract? Two characters (bold number three) with a space in the middle.

(3)? Abstract? Print the summary on the line below the word (No.4). There are two spaces at the beginning of each paragraph, and punctuation marks occupy one space.

(4) The next line after printing the abstract? Key words? Three characters (bold number four), followed by keywords (Song Dynasty number four). The number of keywords is 4 ~ 6, each keyword is separated by commas, and the last keyword is not punctuated.

3. The English titles of the paper are all capital letters, which can be divided into 1 ~ 3 lines and printed in the center. Leave at least five character spaces on the left and right sides of each line.

(1) Print three lines in the center under the heading? Abstract? , and then print two lines of English abstract.

(2) Leave a four-character space at the beginning of each paragraph of the abstract.

(3) summarize the contents and print them on the bottom two lines? Key words? , followed by lowercase keywords, each keyword is separated by commas, and the last keyword is not punctuated.

4. Directory:? Directory? The word (bold type No.3) is filled in two lines: chapter, section, section and its starting page number. Chapters, sections and paragraphs are marked with 1, 1. 1, 1. 1 respectively.

The number of chapters and articles in the catalogue, introduction and appendix, etc. There is a word difference between the titles of chapters, articles and appendices and the previous contents. Preface, chapter, article, etc. Connect with page numbers, without brackets. When the contents listed in the table of contents return to the top grid.

5. Chapters, articles and paragraphs: The numbers of chapters and articles are arranged in the top box, and the spacing between the numbers and the title or text is one word. The title of this chapter occupies two lines. The body of the paragraph begins with two empty words, and the top line is arranged when returning.

6. Title: The title of each chapter is printed in the center with bold No.3; ? Chapter? Two behaviors in the air? Festival? Print in bold type No.4 from the left; ? Festival? Next scene? Festival? , printed in small four or five bold letters from the left. Print the text of the paper after the line break.

7. Text: Song Style No.4 or No.5 is adopted.

8. Drawings: Drawings include graphs, structural drawings, schematic drawings, diagrams, block diagrams, flow charts, records, layout drawings, maps, photographs, plates, etc. The chart should have? Self-evident? , that is, just look at the legend, not the text, you can understand the meaning of the picture. All drawings are marked in English. The illustrations are in Chinese.

This drawing should be numbered. Figure? There are Arabic numerals beginning with 1, such as? Figure 1? 、? Figure 2? Wait a minute. Regardless of the numbering of chapters, clauses and tables, the numbering of drawings shall continue to the appendix. When there is only one picture, should it be marked as? Figure 1? . Drawings should have explanatory text in both Chinese and English. The English font is No.5, and the Chinese font is No.5 in italics, which should be placed after the drawing number. The drawing number and explanatory text should be placed at the bottom center of the drawing. Citation chart should indicate the source of literature in the upper right corner of the title.

Must the vertical and horizontal coordinates of graphics be marked? Quantity, standard symbol and unit? . These three can only be omitted if there is no need to specify (such as dimensionless, etc.). ). The symbols and abbreviations of the quantities marked on the coordinates must be consistent with those in the text.

Photos require a clear outline of the theme and main display parts, which is convenient for plate making. If an enlarged copy is used, it must be clear and have a moderate contrast. There should be a scale to indicate the size of the object in the photo. Drawings must be neat, clear and standard. Among them, the mechanical parts drawing is in accordance with the requirements of the mechanical drawing specification: the schematic diagram should clearly reflect the contents of the drawing.

9. Table: The arrangement of the table is generally that the content and test items are read horizontally from left to right, and the data are read vertically in order, which should be self-evident. What number should this table be numbered? Watch? There are Arabic numerals beginning with 1, such as? Table 1? 、? Table 2? Wait a minute. Regardless of the numbering of chapters, clauses and drawings, the numbering of tables shall continue to the appendix. When there is only one table, it should still be marked as. Table 1? . A table should have a title, the title is the name of the table, after the number of the table.

The number and title of the table should be placed in the center above the table. If a table needs to be connected from one page to another, the number of the table should be repeated on subsequent pages. Numbers are followed by table titles (which can be omitted) and? (continued)? , as shown in the figure: table 1 (continued). The table header and statements about the company should be repeated in the continued table.

10. Formula: the formula should be centered on another line, and the longer formula should be returned at the equal sign as much as possible, or at? +? 、? -? Loop at the equal sign. In the formula, the length of the horizontal line of the fractional line should be distinguished, and the main horizontal line should be equal to the equal sign. Formulas should be numbered, connected and arranged in chapter order.

Under the formula? Where:? Leave two words out of this line, a single line. The symbols to be explained in the formula are left and then right, then up and down, then connected with the explanation by dashes, and aligned with the previous explanation when returning. The dotted lines of the upper and lower lines are aligned.

1 1. Appendix

The appendix number (appendix 1, appendix 2 in turn) and the appendix title occupy one line respectively and are placed in the middle position above the appendix articles. Every appendix starts from the other side, and the appendix at the back usually starts from the other side. If there are several shorter appendices, they can also be connected. The chart formulas in the appendix are numbered separately from the text.

12. Reference

References should be listed on a new page, all listed documents should be arranged in spaces, and they should be arranged in the top box when returned, and no punctuation marks should be added after each document.

(1) Numbering consecutively with Arabic numerals according to the order in which the references in the paper appear, placing the serial numbers in square brackets, and taking the serial numbers as the upper corner marks or as a part of the paper as appropriate. For example:? Li [1] studied this, and the mathematical model is shown in [2]. ?

(2) Every item in the reference should be complete. When there are no more than three authors, list all the authors in the literature; When there are more than three, generally only the top three are listed, followed by? Wait? Words or? Wait a minute. ; Author names are separated by commas; Chinese and foreign names are described by surname first.
