SAT, what does this answer mean?
The SAT is sponsored by the American College Board, and its achievements are an important reference for high school students from all over the world to apply for admission qualifications and scholarships in American universities. It and ACT are both called American College Entrance Examination. After the reform of 20 16, the new SAT was divided into three parts: reading, grammar and mathematics, and writing was changed to optional test. ETS undertakes its proposition and grading work. But they are only one of the reference materials for enrollment, unlike the college entrance examination, which plays a completely decisive role, and the results are valid for 2 years.

Some candidates were rejected in the SAT test: they were accused of overcorrection for alleged violation of discipline.

expense

function

edit

When applying to most American universities, you must provide SAT test scores, or equivalent American university test scores.

According to the view of College Board (hereinafter referred to as CB), the organizer of SAT, SAT mainly examines the reading and writing abilities that students need in college.

CB said that SAT will test students' ability to put what they have learned in school into practice, analyze and solve problems, which is very important in universities.

Examination time

edit

SAT exams are held on the first Saturday of March, May, June, 1 October,1month,1February and the last Saturday of1month every year.

Among them, the exam in March every year is only held in the United States. The examination time starts at 8: 00 a.m. and ends around 1 in the afternoon (the rest time of each test center is different, so the time is different).

Related news:

According to the Associated Press's 20 16 report, the agency in charge of overseas SAT test announced that it would cancel the SAT test scheduled for this Saturday (2065438+0665438+123 October) because some candidates may have already got the test questions.

It is reported that the new york-based Council of American Universities recently announced the above decision. Stacy Caldwell, deputy director of the preparation review department of the examination institution, said that students had been informed of the decision on Wednesday.

The American College Board said that the decision involved 45 test centers, but failed to give how many candidates who planned to take the SAT this weekend would be affected.

Caldwell pointed out that these candidates will receive make-up exam information next week, and the make-up exam may be held one month later.

Name change

Essay [3] The total length of the exam is 3 hours and 50 minutes (230 minutes). * * There are three compulsory subjects, namely reading, grammar (writing and language) and mathematics (mathematics), and an optional subject of composition.

The distribution of these three subjects is as follows:

Reading: * * * 65 minutes;

Writing and Language: * * 35 minutes;

Math: It consists of two sections, ***80 minutes.

Composition: * * 50 minutes;

Note: There are three breaks in the whole exam, between reading and grammar, between the first math and the second math, and between the second math and composition. Take a five-minute break at a time.

Examination subjects:

Critical reading

Critical reading (hereinafter referred to as CR) has 67 topics, including: 19 sentence completion (hereinafter referred to as SC) and 48 reading articles based on short passages.

In article reading, * * * includes 3 independent long articles, 1 group leader's comparative articles, 2 independent short articles, 1 group comparative short articles, ***5 independent articles and 2 groups of comparative articles.

Collocation form

25-minute zone: 5 SC+ short articles (two independent articles/a set of comparison)+2 long articles (a set of comparison articles counts as one).

25-minute zone: 8 SC+ short articles (two independent articles/a set of comparisons)+1 long article (a set of comparison articles counts as one).

20-minute zone: 6 SC+ a long article (a group of comparative articles counts as one)

Complete the sentence

In a sentence, remove one or two words/phrases and give five options. According to the given sentence part, choose the most appropriate fill in the blanks, mainly to examine the vocabulary.

Read the article

Give an article or a group of articles and answer the questions after reading. The fields covered by the article mainly include social science, humanities, natural science or novels (one at a time).

Each essay (two essays) is about 100 words, and each article will have two topics (four essays). The total number of words in a long article or article group is between 400 and 800.

Survey content

Including the contents of Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry courses in the American education system (equivalent to most knowledge points in junior high schools and a small part in senior high schools in China), excluding most preparatory calculus courses (equivalent to mathematics in senior high schools in China) and deeper courses.

It is relatively simple for students who have received traditional mathematics education in China, but it may be challenging for candidates who lack basic reading ability.

In addition, SAT mathematics requires great care. When converting scores, the correct rate of mathematics in the high score interval remains unchanged, and the deduction points are far more than other parts, so it is not easy to get full marks.

other

Calculators are allowed, and some formulas are given at the beginning of each area.

Key points of knowledge

Parabola: y = ax? + bx + c

Ellipse: (1) perimeter formula: L=2πb+4(a-b)

Ellipse circumference's Theorem: The circumference of an ellipse is equal to the circumference (2πb) of an ellipse with the radius of the short semi-axis length plus four times the difference between the long semi-axis length (a) and the short semi-axis length (b) of an ellipse.

Area formula: S=πab

Ellipse area theorem: the area of an ellipse is equal to π times the product of the major semi-axis length (a) and the minor semi-axis length (b) of an ellipse.

Diamond area = half of diagonal product, that is, S=(a×b)÷2.

Triangle area:

(1) Given that the base of a triangle is a and the height is h, then S=ah/2.

(2) Given the three sides A, B, C and the half circumference P of a triangle, then S= √[p(p-a)(p-b)(p-c)] (Helen formula).

(3) Given two sides A and B of a triangle, the included angle between these two sides is C, then S=absinC/2.

(4) Given the semi-perimeter p of the triangle and the radius r of the inscribed circle, then S=pr.

Sector area: the sector area with a central angle of n and a radius of r is (n/360 )× π (r 2). If the vertex angle is radian, it can be simplified as 1/2× radian× radius squared. The sector is also similar to a triangle, and the simplified area formula above can also be regarded as: 1/2× arc length× radius, which is similar to the triangle area of "1/2× bottom× height".

Trapezoidal area: [(upper bottom+lower bottom) × height ]/2

Rectangular area: length × width

Trapezoidal volume: v = [s1+S2+√ (s1* S2)]/3 * h) (v: volume; S 1: upper surface area; S2: lower surface area; H: high)

Cylinder volume: V cylinder =S bottom × h.

Cuboid volume: V= length × width × height

Cubic volume: V= side length 3

Cone volume: V= 1/3×S bottom× h

Pythagorean Theorem: A? +b? =c? (A, B and C represent the lengths of hooks, strands and chords of a right triangle respectively), and its deformation is: B? =c? -a? =(c-a)(c+a)a? =c? -B? =(c-b)(c+b); c? =2ab+(b-a)?

Arithmetic progression: 1. General formula: an = a1+(n-1) d.

2. the first n terms and formulas: sn = na1+[n (n-1) d]/2 or Sn=[n(a 1+an)]/2.

Geometric series: 1. General formula: an = A 1 q (n- 1).

2. the first n terms and formulas: when q= 1, sn = na1; When q≠ 1, sn = [a1(1-q n)]/(1-q).

General form of one-dimensional linear equation: ax+b=0(a and B are constants, a≠0).

One-dimensional quadratic equation: 1. General form: ax 2+bx+c = 0 (a, b, c are constants, a≠0).

writing

This subject was added after the SAT reform in 2005. It has three sections, including a composition and 49 grammar multiple-choice questions. Among them, composition accounts for about 30% of the total score, and grammar multiple-choice questions account for about 70% of the total score.

Grammar multiple-choice questions include 25 improved sentences (hereinafter referred to as IS), 18 sentence errors (hereinafter referred to as ISE) and 6 improved articles (hereinafter referred to as IP).

Collocation form

Section 1(25 minutes): composition [; Note: for each exam, the first class must be a 25-minute composition];

25-minute zone:11is+18 ise+6 IP.

Section 10 (10 minutes): 14 is [; Note: the tenth and last section of each exam must be grammar.

composition

Write according to the given topic within 25 minutes. If you want to get high marks, the number of words should generally be above 400. The work will be judged by two judges. Except for blanks and questions, the scoring range of each judge is 1-6, and the total score of the composition is 2- 12.

Grammar multiple choice questions

All the mistakes have been singled out and corrected, and China students should improve quickly after training or self-study.
