Historical Evolution of School of Mathematics and System Science of Xinjiang University
Basic mathematics is one of the oldest subjects in Xinjiang University. Under the careful cultivation of the older generation of educators such as Chen and Wang Zengyi, by the end of 1970s, the basic mathematics of Xinjiang University had acquired considerable strength, produced a batch of high-level scientific research achievements, and became the first subject to be awarded a master's degree after the 1978 Cultural Revolution. In 1980s, with the promotion of Chen and two scholars, the basic mathematics in our school has made great progress. Some influential and powerful research directions have gradually formed, such as functional analysis, harmonic analysis, algebraic graph theory, differential equations and so on. , produced a large number of high-level scientific research achievements, and began to publish articles in important international academic journals, which had a certain impact at home and abroad. 199 1 Basic mathematics has been identified as the first batch of key disciplines in the autonomous region. In the 1990s, with the backing of basic mathematics, applied mathematics and computational mathematics developed and improved rapidly, and successively obtained master's degree programs and doctoral degree programs in applied mathematics. At present, basic mathematics, applied mathematics and computational mathematics have become the three pillar disciplines of the School of Mathematics and System Science of Xinjiang University. Among them, basic mathematics plays an irreplaceable role in teaching, scientific research and personnel training.

Driven by the construction of the key discipline "Applied Mathematics and Systems Engineering" in the Ninth Five-Year Plan, this discipline has made great progress in recent years and gradually formed five key research directions of basic mathematics: functional analysis, harmonic analysis, algebraic graph theory, differential equations and matrix analysis. There is a master's degree in "Basic Mathematics" and a mathematics Post-Doctoral Research Center. In these five research directions, we all have a reasonable academic echelon, including doctors and masters, combining the old with the young. There are more than 30 researchers of all kinds, including professors 1 1 and doctors 10. There are a number of high-level research achievements in every direction, and the research level of each academic leader has reached the advanced level at home and even internationally. In the past five years, more than 200 academic papers have been published in this discipline, including nearly 100 core journal papers, and 50 papers have been included by the world's three major search engines SCI, EI and ISTP. He has undertaken more than 20 scientific research projects, including 7 at the national level and more than 0 at the provincial level 10, and won more than 20 scientific research and teaching achievement awards, including 9 at the provincial level.

Through nearly five years of construction, it is hoped that basic mathematics will be built into a basic research discipline that can adapt to the development trend of mathematics in the 2 1 century and the needs of economic construction and social development in Xinjiang. Through the construction of basic mathematics, we will promote the greater development of applied mathematics, system engineering, computational mathematics, statistics, operational research and cybernetics, so as to further promote the application of applied mathematics and system engineering to better serve the economic construction and social development in Xinjiang, and achieve higher economic and social benefits in the fields of economic analysis and prediction, financial and securities investment, actuarial research, oil and gas distribution in Xinjiang and rock seepage in oil fields, sustainable development of oasis ecological environment, and development and application of computer technology. Cultivate a group of young and middle-aged academic leaders and a group of teaching and scientific research backbones with strong and active academic ideas and certain influence in the field of mathematics at home and abroad. Create a number of high-level scientific research achievements. It will be built into an important base with advanced level in western universities, and cultivate mathematics professionals of all ethnic groups at four levels: undergraduate, master, doctoral and postdoctoral.
