Professor Xiang Wuyi is keen on mathematics teaching. 1992, he and his wife, Dr. Xie Wanjun, a disciple of Su Da, an academician of China Academy of Sciences and former professor Gu Chaohao of Fudan University jointly initiated and personally donated money to set up the "Su Mathematics Teaching Foundation" and set up the "Su Mathematics Education Award". At first, the award was limited to Shanghai, and it was extended to the whole country from the fourth session. The "Jiangsu Mathematics Education Award" is selected every two years, which mainly rewards middle school mathematics teachers who have made outstanding achievements in teaching and scientific research. It is regarded as the highest honor of mathematics education in middle schools in China. This activity initiated by Xiang Wuyi and others has strongly promoted the development of education in China.
