Before the Cultural Revolution, Gu Shengying was one of the best pianists in China. 1954 joined the Shanghai symphony orchestra, and 1958 won the highest prize for women's piano in the 14th Geneva International Music Competition. At the beginning of the Cultural Revolution, the leaders of the Cultural Revolution defined literature and art as "the dictatorship of the black line of literature and art", and she and a large number of well-known artists became the first targets of the literary and art circles.
1967 65438+1October 3 1 day, in the rehearsal hall of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra on Hunan Road, Shanghai, the "rebel" of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra dragged Gu Shengying to the stage of the rehearsal hall, slapped her in the face in front of all the staff of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, pulled her hair, and forced her to kneel in front of the statue of Mao Zedong to "confess".
Gu Shengying committed suicide after a cruel "struggle" with her mother and brother at home.
Gu Shengying is unmarried and lives with her mother and brother Gu Woqi. Gu Shengying's mother, Qin Shenyi, graduated from the Department of Western Literature of Datong University and is a housewife. Gu Shengying's father, Gu Gaodi, was arrested in 1956 for being involved in the "counter-revolutionary" case "Pan Hannian case. He was sentenced to 20 years in 1958 and sent to Qinghai for" reeducation through labor ". (Pan Hannian was the head of the underground party in Shanghai, and 1949 was the deputy mayor of Shanghai. He led the "counter-revolutionary" and "five evils" movements in Shanghai, arrested and executed a large number of "counter-revolutionaries" and cracked down on a large number of businessmen. Then, 1955, Pan Hannian himself was arrested on charges of "counter-revolution". During the Cultural Revolution, 1967 was imprisoned again, 1970 was sentenced to life imprisonment, and 1977 died. After the Cultural Revolution, 1982 Pan Hannian was rehabilitated. )
Gu Shengying's younger brother, Gu Qiqi, 1955 was admitted to Shanghai Jiaotong University. Shanghai Jiaotong University is the earliest modern engineering education institution established in China, and it is one of the best and most difficult universities to enter. 1956, the central government ordered Shanghai Jiaotong University to move to Xi 'an. A group of professors raised objections. As a result, all the opponents were classified as "Rightists" in 1957, and no one dared to criticize the relocation. Shanghai Jiaotong University moved to Xi 'an, and Gu Qiqi dropped out of school due to illness and stayed in Shanghai. It was many years before he found a temporary job as a substitute math teacher in Tianshan Middle School.
Gu Shengying, his mother and brother committed suicide by turning on the gas at home. Many houses in Shanghai have gas facilities. Cooking with gas is much more convenient and clean than burning coal. At that time, few residential areas in Beijing supplied gas, and people could only burn briquettes and honeycomb briquettes. In some provincial capital cities, even honeycomb briquettes are made by residents themselves by mixing water and pulverized coal with shovels, and then making them piece by piece with molds. The "political movement" has been going on year after year, and people's living conditions have been deteriorating. People in other cities can only envy Shanghai people who can cook with gas but don't need it. However, when people committed suicide because of persecution during the Cultural Revolution, gas turned out to be a unique suicide tool for Shanghainese. Li Jun 1966, a professor at East China Normal University, Li Jun 1966, a professor at Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and Wen Jie, a poet of Shanghai Writers Association, committed suicide in June 197 1, all of which turned on the gas.
A large number of people committed suicide during the Cultural Revolution. Other people who committed suicide together were Professor Yang Jiaren of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, famous translator Cheng Zhuoru, famous translator Fu Lei and his wife Zhu Meifu, professor Liu Shousong of Wuhan University, professor Liu Dezhong and his wife Yu, and professors Huang and Fan of Shaanxi Normal University. The couple committed suicide together, because both of them were desperate for reality at the same time. Otherwise, one of them will definitely dissuade the other. The death of Gu Shengying and his mother's brother, three people at a time, is even more tragic.
After Gu Shengying and his mother and brother died, the body was burned, the ashes were thrown away, and the house was quickly allocated to others. Some people heard that before they committed suicide, they left a suicide note to their father, Gu Gaudi. The main idea of the suicide note is that the three of them are determined to commit suicide, and Gu Yuan is in Qinghai, so they can't contact each other and can only meet in heaven in the future. After the Cultural Revolution, Gu returned to Shanghai from Qinghai Labor Camp, and no one told him about the suicide note. Soon after, Gu also passed away. Whether there was a suicide note or not, and what was written on it, only the people in power at that time knew. But until now, I have never seen such a person tell the relevant facts.
The victims of the Cultural Revolution of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra were not only Gu Shengying, but also the conductor Lu. He suffered from mental illness before the Cultural Revolution, but was accused of "current counter-revolution" because of his remarks during the Cultural Revolution. Lu Yu was arrested on May 28th, 1966, and was sentenced to death and shot on April 28th, 1968. From his arrest to his execution, he was repeatedly taken from prison to the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra to "fight" and was beaten and insulted by some members of the orchestra. Gu Shengying must have seen Liu's "struggle" scene. Also, Zhou, the viola player of the band, was persecuted in the autumn of 1968 and committed suicide.
