Introduction of Mathematical Olympics in Southeast China
The Southeast China Mathematical Olympics, or CSMO for short, is a mathematical competition jointly organized by Fujian, Zhejiang and Jiangxi in the southeast of China. The contestants are senior one students, and both senior one and senior two students can participate in the 1 1. The participating teams mainly come from middle schools in Fujian, Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces, as well as teams from Shanghai, Guangdong and Hong Kong.
Generally speaking, each team consists of four senior one students.
The reason for holding the competition is that until 2003, no students from these three provinces entered the China team of the International Mathematical Olympiad. In order to promote the exchange of mathematical Olympics among the three places and train students to enter the national team, key middle schools in the three provinces began to hold competitions in cooperation in 2004, which were undertaken by mathematical societies and middle schools in the three provinces in turn. Up to now, the Southeast Mathematical Olympiad has been held for fifteen times.
