1, enhance strength

At present, a considerable number of experience posts scoff at improving their strength, thinking that everyone's English level is enough, and what they lack is only reading skills. 2, master the skills

The skills you need to master in reading English documents include three levels.

The first level is to find relevant Chinese literature, the second level is to select English literature for intensive reading, and the third level is to read the mathematical language in the text.

For newly admitted graduate students, reading English literature is too difficult and inefficient. It's normal to read one file in a week, and it's a gift to read two files. But for most graduate students, the tutor will not arrange them to engage in cutting-edge research, and the master students who are arranged to engage in cutting-edge research will not be too weak in English.

If it is not a particularly cutting-edge English document, then we can certainly find relevant Chinese documents through keyword search. Reading these Chinese documents is not difficult for most graduate students, and reading English documents will naturally get twice the result with half the effort.

It is also important to choose English literature that needs intensive reading. Except for a few minority majors that nobody cares about, most researchers have to face a huge amount of literature. After getting a document, some recent graduates hope to read it to increase their knowledge. There is nothing wrong with the idea of long knowledge, but if this knowledge is not related to your own research direction, it is undoubtedly an inefficient way to spend great effort to read English literature.

When reading English literature, you can quickly determine whether this article is closely related to your research work by reading the abstract, introduction, conclusion and other parts. If so, you can continue intensive reading, if not, you can give up directly. And if you just want to acquire knowledge, encyclopedias or popular science books are actually a better choice.

After having a certain foundation in a certain industry, reading English literature can adopt a more efficient reading method-reading formula. Of course, this method may only be suitable for science and engineering. Mathematical language has a special property that transcends natural language. Even if we don't know the language of the paper at all, we can read foreign documents through formulas.
