The IB curriculum system includes six major subject groups, focusing on three major curriculum cores. Consistent with the concept of "holistic education" advocated by IB, the course covers six fields: language and literature, second language acquisition, humanities and society, experimental science, mathematics and computer, art and elective courses. The combination of arts and sciences pays attention to the cultivation of students' comprehensive ability and guides students to obtain comprehensive and comprehensive development.
Six discipline groups:
Language: IB students in China generally choose Chinese or English, which is the best language they can master. The focus of its teaching is not limited to the improvement of language ability, but also aims to improve students' language ability through literary appreciation.
Second language: the second language acquisition course focuses on training students' ability to use language, such as writing and oral expression. Oral test and written test are also the two major assessment methods of this subject.
Humanities and Society: Elective courses include history, geography, economics, philosophy, psychology, sociocultural anthropology, business and management, IT(SL) in the global society, etc.
Experimental Science: Elective courses mainly include: biology, chemistry, physics, environmental system (SL), design technology, etc. One of the key points of the survey is: let students complete a project through group cooperation, exercise their ability of division of labor and cooperation, and how to tap different views on the same thing.
Mathematics and computer technology: mathematics is the core, and some mathematics projects and computer technology are optional. The examination focuses on "Mathematical Investigation" and "Mathematical Modeling Task".
Art and Elective Courses: Elective courses include music, drama art, visual art and independent school art projects.
The learning process of the six major subjects of IB is the same from primary school to high school, and each stage must receive quality training in these six fields. But at the same time, IB system also provides students with the space of independent choice. For example, if students don't want to take art courses, they can take other five courses and choose all six courses required by IB.
These three core courses are: Extended Thesis (ee), Knowledge Theory (TOK), Innovation and Creativity, Action and Service (CAS).
