The abbreviation of American Mathematics Competition, also known as American High School Mathematics Examination, was established by American Mathematical Association on 1950. Headquartered at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, it is directly affiliated to the American Mathematical Association. 1985 added American junior high school math exam (Ajhsme). Every year, in North America alone, more than 600,000 students are officially registered to take the exam, so AMC is the most reliable and effective math subject exam in the world. There are more than 20 countries in the world, such as Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Hungary, Greece, Turkey and France. This test has been recommended by American middle school principals as one of the main activities every year.

Students who score above 100 or rank in the top 5% in the world will be eligible to take the American Mathematics Invitational Examination for free. AIME will be held in AMC in five weeks. The examination time is 3 hours, and the competition question is "15", and the answer is an integer from 0 to 999. If you answer a question correctly, you will get 1 point, and if you answer it incorrectly, you will not be deducted. The perfect score is 15. The examination questions are quite difficult.

AMC and AIME are both part of the United States participating in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) national team trials.

1950, a branch of the American Mathematical Association established a mathematics competition for senior high school students-American Senior High School Mathematics Examination (AHSME, originally 50 multiple-choice questions, changed to 30 multiple-choice questions in 1974, and 25 multiple-choice questions after 2000. ) 1985 added an activity for junior high school students-American junior high school math exam (Ajhsme), and this model continued until 1999.
