Wuhan University, located in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, is a comprehensive national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), ranking among the "double first-class", "985 Project" and "21/engineering" universities in China.

It was selected into the Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, the National Basic Science Research and Talent Training Base, the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, the National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center, and the National College Students' Cultural Quality Education Base.

As of July 2022, the school covers an area of 5 195 mu with a building area of 2.8 million square meters. The school has 34 colleges and 3 first-class hospitals.
