Anhui province belongs to the transitional area between warm temperate zone and subtropical zone in climate. The north of Huaihe River has a warm temperate semi-humid monsoon climate, and the south of Huaihe River has a sub-humid monsoon climate.

Its main characteristics are obvious monsoon, four distinct seasons, warm and changeable spring, concentrated rain in summer, crisp autumn and cold winter. Anhui is also located in the mid-latitude zone. With the alternation of monsoon, the seasonal variation of precipitation is obvious, which is one of the areas with obvious monsoon climate.

There are more than 3,200 species of vascular plants in Anhui Province, belonging to 205 families 1006 genera, accounting for 60.3% of vascular plants in China, 3 1.7% of genera and 0/.7% of species.
