Changsha Aviation Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1973 and upgraded to a higher vocational college in March, 1998. Under the Air Force Equipment Department, it is the only national education college in the whole army. It mainly undertakes the task of training high-quality technical and skilled personnel for military equipment repair and local economic construction.

Chengdu Aviation Vocational and Technical College is a public full-time college directly under the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education. It is the earliest independent higher vocational education school approved by the Ministry of Education in China and the first national demonstration higher vocational college approved by the Ministry of Education in Sichuan Province.
