Jerry Wieseman mentioned the four deadly sins of PPT design in The Art of Wieseman's Bible Speech. Here, he briefly introduced the trilogy of Wieseman's Speech Bible, which must be read by trainers or readers who like to speak, including Wieseman's Speech Bible: The Art of Speech, Wieseman's Speech Bible 2: The Art of Answer and Wieseman's Speech Bible 3: The Perfect Speech. ?

Four deadly sins of PPT design

Using PPT as teleprompter

There are too many charts on a single PPT.

There is too much information on the chart.

Information and data have not been processed.

But many trainers, especially university lecturers' PPT, we will see large paragraphs of text, and the screen is full of text, so that the audience can't hear your explanation and will always stare at the screen. Why do many trainers put so many words on the screen? Think of it as a txt-recorded syndrome teleprompter, that is, the TV host puts a machine in front of the video, on which the lines will scroll, and the host looks at the teleprompter and the camera to avoid making mistakes.

As a trainer, don't do this. PPT is abbreviation, full name is PowerPoint, that is, those powerful points. The demo system used by Apple System is keynote, which means the core idea. If the screen is full of words, what is the core idea?

It must be remembered that PPT is used for demonstration, not for recording.

Based on the two principles of PPT design, the first is clear at a glance. Don't let go of too many words and charts on PPT. The information should be refined and processed, so that the audience can know what you want to express at a glance, instead of observing for half a day before drawing a conclusion. Try to keep words as short as possible. If you can use words, you don't need phrases. If you can use phrases, you don't need sentences. The second is visualization. Visualization is part of the right brain. In PPT design, words are not as good as tables, and tables are not like pictures. We have to convert large paragraphs of text into tables, or deduce them with model pictures, in order to achieve the impact on the audience's right brain. ?

It must be remembered that PPT is only an aid to the trainer's teaching process. Don't put everything on it. PPT should only focus on the key points, and less is more.

In addition to the above two principles, PPT design should also pay attention to:

The first color is used properly. Don't use more than three colors on a PPT page, otherwise it will be too fancy. Try not to use yellow projection stone, it will blur. After designing PPT, be sure to find an opportunity to connect the projector before the lecture to see if the font color is clear and red is a warning color. Use less.

The second is to avoid too professional abbreviations. If you are sure that students can understand your abbreviations, you can use them on PPT. You think everyone knows pdf cycle model, growth model and star model. That was not the case. In fact, few people understand this, and only people in this field can know it.

The third is not to break lines and use long sentences. One line is not finished, so students should look down and only see the second line.

Fourth, the font size should be greater than 24, so the text should be large enough and not less than 24, otherwise the students behind can't see it clearly.

Fifth, don't use oblique or too artistic fonts.

Sixth, don't use too much animation. We will see that some trainers, especially female trainers, especially like to use animation. For a while, words fly out from the wood workshop, and for a while, pictures fly out from the right. Animation is only used in specific places to emphasize humor, and so on. Using animation in the whole process will feel like usurping the role of the host.

The seventh is consistency, whether it is the template background of PPT or the color of font, the size should be consistent. Eight is to avoid using the slogan of company secrets.

Finally, to sum up, we should pay attention to the following two points when using PPT in the training process.

The first is to disclose all necessary documents in advance. When the camera needs to be replaced with a black screen or covered with a transparent camera, in addition to PPT, some word and Excel may be shown to the students in class. Be sure to open these files before class, and start PPT directly to switch when using them.

The second is to delete some videos and movies that have been played when using Storm Video Software. Of course, the best way is to insert the used video directly into PPT. Note that it is not a hyperlink. If you insert it directly, a video will appear. When you give a lecture like an ordinary translator, you can play it automatically by clicking on the translation pen system.

Another way is to turn off the screen saver. Some trainers like to use screensavers very much. If you use group discussion or game fragments for deduction, if you don't operate for a while, the screensaver will come out.
