Sun bears are not extinct. The habitat of the sun bear is from India to Indonesia, but the smallest bear in the world is facing extinction due to rampant deforestation and poaching in Southeast Asia. IUCN lists them as endangered animals. Experts estimate that the number of sun bears has decreased by at least 30% in the past 30 years. At present, there are only about 10000 surviving sun bears in the world.
