In principle, teacher training is a training cycle every five years. Primary and secondary school teachers should complete not less than 360 credits and not less than 48 credits each year. On-the-job teachers in primary and secondary schools shall participate in the training courses of not less than 240 credits provided by the education administrative departments at or above the county level or in conjunction with relevant departments, of which the training courses at the city, district (city) level (including personalized training for municipal teachers) shall not be less than 60 credits, and the school-based training shall not exceed 120 credits.

The national training plan for primary and secondary school teachers, referred to as "National Training Plan", was fully implemented by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance on 20 10, which is an important measure to improve the overall quality of primary and secondary school teachers, especially rural teachers. The "National Training Plan" includes "Demonstration Training Project for Primary and Secondary School Teachers" and "Training Project for Rural Key Teachers in the Midwest".
