Hong kong,

Before you can legally work as a registered nurse in any state or district of the United States, you must obtain a registered nurse license in that state. To obtain a registered nurse's license, you must first apply to the state government to take and pass the NCLEX-RN exam.

The examination content of NCLEX-RN is based on the knowledge and ability that graduates of new nursing schools in the United States should possess. It is divided into two parts: nursing theory and clinical practice, including five traditional nursing fields, namely, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics and psychiatry. It adopts the overall comprehensive examination, rather than individual examinations for each subject.

Joint Committee of the National Nurses' Bureau: In order to unify the level of nurses in the United States and avoid the trouble of holding different license examinations in different States and renewing licenses among States, * * * jointly organized a "National Committee of State Nurses' Bureau" (NCSBN for short). From 1987, the national registered nurse practice certificate examination (NCLEX-RN) was held uniformly.

American State Nurses' Office (or Ministry of Health)

Only after passing the exam can you get the registered nurse license issued by the state.

Registered nurse licensing examination

From April 1994, the NCLEX-RN (Registered Nurse Practice Certificate Examination) changed from the traditional paper-and-pencil mode to the computerized mode, which is called computerized adaptive examination, or NCLEX-CAT for short. The computer test is basically the same as the traditional paper-and-pencil method, and candidates do not need computer knowledge.

The examination content of NCLEX-RN (Registered Nurse License Examination) is based on the knowledge and ability that graduates of new nursing schools in the United States should possess. It is divided into two parts: nursing theory and clinical practice, including five traditional nursing fields, namely, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics and psychiatry. It adopts the overall comprehensive examination, rather than individual examinations for each subject.

NCLEX-RN examination structure

The topics of NCLEX-RN or NCLEX-CAT are four choices and one multiple-choice question. The number of questions depends on the candidates' on-the-spot performance. There are at least 75 questions and at most 265 questions. The examination time is 5 hours, and there are 10 minutes left after 2 hours. During the exam, the computer only displays one question at a time, and each question must be answered, otherwise the next question will not be displayed. Answered questions cannot be viewed or modified. The computer will give the following questions according to the quality of the candidates' answers. If the examinee answers correctly, the computer will increase the difficulty of the test questions; If the answer is wrong, the difficulty of the exam will be reduced. Test scores are determined by the difficulty of correct answers, not the number of correct answers. Therefore, when the computer judges the level of candidates (that is, qualified and unqualified) according to the difficulty and accuracy of candidates' answers, it will stop candidates' examinations. If you are not sure, candidates have to continue to answer questions until the computer can judge the degree of candidates. When five hours have passed (including the rest between the pre-test practice and the exam) or the examinee has completed 265 questions, the exam is over.

NCLEX-RN test results

The state nurses' bureau will generally inform the candidates of the test results four weeks after the test. The examination adopts the qualified score line, and the report form is directly issued by the National Nursing Bureau. If it fails, the state nurses' bureau will attach the examinee's examination report to the report card, and the examinee can retake the exam, but it takes 45 to 90 days each time. The specific time interval and frequency limit of re-examination shall be formulated by the State Nursing Bureau respectively.

Obtain a registered nurse license.

After passing the examination, candidates who meet the prescribed conditions will be granted a registered nurse license (RN license) issued by the National Nursing Bureau:

The nurse's name and license number are on the license. Usually valid for two years, and updated to the state nurse's office after two years. The standards for license renewal shall be formulated by the state nursing bureaus respectively.
