Liu Hailong is a representative figure of Sanda in contemporary China. His fledgling performance is outstanding in the national Sanda championship. In 2000, he became the star of China Sanda in the first China Wushu Sanda King Competition. In that competition, he won the 75kg champion and the title of "Sanda King", and later won the title of "Super Sanda King".
