Tang, a professor, is the most popular founder of Chinese shorthand and inventor of Chinese tape recorder. He used to be the principal of Yahweh Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Lanzhou and Hong Kong Shorthand School, a professor at Fudan University, Jinan University and Zhi Min School of Journalism, the editor-in-chief of Shanghai China Life Pictorial and the editor-in-chief of Beijing Shorthand Monthly. At present, he is a consultant of the Institute of Linguistics of Renmin University of China, the president of China Literature and Information Shorthand Society, the executive director of China Chinese Information Society and the president of Beijing Shorthand Society.
