Baiyangping Town is the hometown of Enshi Lantern Festival. In 2005, Eastern Xia Caocun was named as one of the "20 National Folk Culture Ecological Protection Zones in Quanzhou" by the state government. Folk arts such as juggling, lotus circle, lotus boat picking and folk songs are very popular, and folk crafts such as carving, weaving and paper art are distinctive. The popular folk opera in China, especially in Enshi rural areas, was once one of the traditional folk operas deeply loved by the people. This traditional opera developed on the basis of Lantern Dance was introduced from Sichuan during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, and Lantern Troupes were established in Enshi, Lichuan and Xuanen. In the past hundred years, this kind of drama has gradually integrated into some unique cultural elements in our state, forming a national art with distinctive regional characteristics.

Baiyangping Town, Enshi City was once the most prosperous place for lantern opera. After the founding of New China, the township also set up a special lantern troupe. Eastern Xia Caocun in this town is the village with the largest number of lantern performers and the longest history of lantern troupe in China, and it has been passed down very well now. It is also one of the 20 ethnic and folk cultural ecological protection zones in our state. Mr. Liao Nanshan, the old inheritor of Lantern Opera, is one of the first recognized 16 folk art masters in Enshi. There is also an ancient entertainment project, the "burning" in Enshi dialect, which is equivalent to a modern card. It was invented by the local people of Populus alba, and its unique font and gameplay are deeply loved by the local people. Handed down from ancient times to the present, it is the inheritance of the wisdom of ancient ancestors.
