Inner anxiety, fear, despair. Scream is a group of four oil paintings created by Norwegian painter edvard munch in 1893. These paintings are regarded as Expressionism painting's masterpieces, expressing the author's inner anxiety, fear and despair with distorted forms and exaggerated colors.

"Scream" depicts a man standing on a bridge, screaming with his hand over his ear. The red sky and rotating lines in the picture convey a strong emotion. This painting is believed to have been created by Monk after experiencing a series of personal crises, such as health, financial problems and love life.
