Usually, these names are not followed by common names. Secondly, the surnames and general names of water bodies are combined to form proper names. Rural Shanghai is a typical water town in the south of the Yangtze River, and residents live on water. The proper name of the settlement, with the initials Guan, means that a family lived here for the first time or in the world, and then the common names of the water bodies where they lived are Bang, He, Gui, Wan, Jing, Dang, Tan and He, such as Zhujiabang, Zhujing and Luojiawan. Third, combine surnames with generic names of residential buildings to form proper names. Rural dwellings are generally called houses, houses, gardens, buildings, halls, pavilions, halls, streets, lanes and bridges. +Street, Lane, Lane and other residential areas with proper surnames are large in scale, and some of them are rural markets now or in history, such as Dongmen Street in jinshanwei, Jinshan County (called Dongping Street in Qing Dynasty), which was one of the famous commercial streets in Jinshan Acropolis in history. Gardens, buildings, halls, pavilions and halls are generally named according to the characteristics of buildings. Some bridges are named after residents, such as Wujiaqiao, Jinjiaqiao and Zhujiaqiao. Residential areas with bridges as proper names tend to omit the word "home" in modern times, which are called Wuqiao, Jinqiao and Zhu Qiao for short. There are 2572 names of such residents, accounting for about 10% of the total. Among them, there are 6,665,438+0 in Jinshan County, accounting for about 25% of the residents in this county.

Fourth, the proper names of a few residential areas are named after animals and plants, orientation, historical sites, topography, and industry characteristics, such as Yemijing (with wild valleys), Gospel Dang (with many wild waterfowl), Dongsanlintang, Litahui, Jinshanzui and Orchard.

According to incomplete statistics, there are 32,598 communities in Shanghai, which are huge.
