Veterans take public transport free of charge with their discharge certificates, and policies vary from place to place. Some places can, and some places need to apply for other local documents (such as bus concession cards) with veterans' cards. Some places do not give preferential treatment to veterans.

It is definitely not possible for veterans to take the subway for free with their discharge certificates, because they can't be recognized at the ticket gate. At present, all cities that have built subways can take the subway for free after handling the bus discount card with the veteran certificate, but most places limit the number of subway rides within a certain period of time. For example, it is limited to 450 rides every six months, 90 rides every month and so on.
