In my opinion, there is no need to learn pinyin in kindergarten. When choosing a kindergarten for children, it is an important criterion to choose a kindergarten without teaching pinyin and writing.
To this end, I have made special reference to the "Guide to Learning and Development for Children Aged 3-6" issued by the Ministry of Education. The guide points out that there are three preparations for reading and writing during kindergarten:
1. I like listening to stories and reading books.
2. Have preliminary reading comprehension ability.
3. Have written wishes and preliminary skills.
Many parents want their children to learn pinyin. They may worry that their children will suddenly come into contact with pinyin and write after primary school, and they will not be able to keep up. So they will think pessimistically: they can't learn Pinyin, their language and literature are not good, and then their exams are not good, and then they can't get into a good middle school, a good university, and finally their jobs are not good. Finally, their children will be delayed for life.
In fact, it is very important for children to fall in love with reading if they want to achieve excellent academic results in the future. This should have started before kindergarten.
Reading is the highest Chinese teacher, and Chinese is the foundation of all other subjects.
The reading here is not the narrow reading we all know, nor is it the thick book with a lot of words we imagined. During this period, I mainly read picture books. Children will like picture books, with more pictures, bigger pictures and fewer words. After reading it many times, the child will read the words word for word. In their eyes, those words and pictures have the same meaning.
If you read enough picture books and those words appear repeatedly, children will naturally know these words. When they enter primary school, they will introduce pinyin, which is natural. So, you see, the Ministry of Education has pointed out that it is necessary to cultivate children's interest in reading, instead of learning pinyin and writing rigidly.
Therefore, if you want your children not to lose at the starting line, don't worry about learning pinyin, learn to write, and read picture books to your children quickly.
