In 2023, Zhejiang Ocean University ranked 324th in China and 24th in Zhejiang Province. Schools actively promote the internationalization of education, deepen cooperation and exchanges with foreign universities and research institutions, and carry out various forms of educational and scientific research cooperation.

Zhejiang Ocean University has established cooperation in teaching and research with 55 foreign universities and scientific research institutions, jointly established Pisa Marine Graduate School of Zhejiang Ocean University with the University of Pisa in Italy, and carried out six joint doctoral programs and several double master's programs with universities such as Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Tokyo Ocean University and Russian Southern Ural State University.

Zhejiang Ocean University has established the National Marine Facility Breeding Engineering Technology Research Center, the national and local joint engineering laboratories for the development and utilization of marine biological germplasm resources, the national and local joint engineering laboratories for port oil and gas storage and transportation technology, the international scientific and technological cooperation base for marine breeding engineering technology, and 29 provincial and ministerial key laboratories, engineering laboratories and engineering technology research centers.
