Yuan Shao

Mi Wanzhong (1570- 163 1), a famous painter in the Ming Dynasty, was built in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. It is the most famous of the "Three Gardens of Michaelis". Many poets in Ming Dynasty sang poems. Hongya Garden was built in the former site of Yuan Shao in the early Qing Dynasty, and Kangxi inscribed it. During the Qianlong period, British envoy Magel was stationed here when he met with the Qing emperor, and later became Zheng Qinwang Palace. During the Jiaqing period, it was renamed Jixian Academy. When the Qing emperor was in Yuanmingyuan, it was the place where ministers gave back food. 1860, Jixian Academy and Yuanmingyuan were burned by British and French imperialism.

Mi hand-painted Yuan Shao Tu in the 45th year of Wanli (16 17). This painting is now in the Peking University Library. The former site of Lombardi is on the north side of the present Lombardi Building, and the curved corridor was newly built in recent years.

Shuchunyuan has undergone several changes. 1860, the British and French allied forces burned the Yuanmingyuan, and the garden was also burned. Now only the base of the stone boat is left.
