abstract

Jamie Carter

This is not a psychological analysis of former President Jamie Carter, but an interpretation of his face through this photo. I've never met him in person, and I've never talked to him face to face (like other people in the photos listed in this chapter, I've never met them or talked to them privately). Before reading further, we suggest that you write down your impression of reading this photo and compare it with my conclusion below.

The overall impression of Jamie Carter's face is fragile and kind (President Eisenhower, we will interpret it later, and the impression is even deeper). Meanwhile, Carter looks sad and contradictory. Although he tried to pose comfortably and happily in this photo.

If you carefully observe his whole expression and pay attention to all the details of the expression one by one, you will be more convinced that there are many worries and frustrations that are completely inconsistent with his seemingly carefree smile.

Divide the face into left and right halves according to the vertical center. The right side of his face is easy-going, warm and friendly, but there is an expression of anxiety and worry around the right side of his face.

In sharp contrast, his left area stared, showing an expression of vigilance and challenge.

When we look at the area, our right eye shows enthusiasm, but also a little worried and depressed. Keep your left eye on it. If this is not an antagonistic expression, it must be a more indomitable expression.

The deep wrinkles above the nose are formed by the contraction of frowning muscles, which is a sign of anger.

Although he is trying to make a smile (far from a sincere smile), his lips are tightly attached to his teeth, so this expression on his mouth can be regarded as an expression that is almost extremely painful. Two closed lips make people feel angry. The lower lip is not sexy at all, let alone the upper lip. The wrinkles on the corners of the mouth formed by the downward pull of the upper and lower lips indicate a restless tension.

Bracket-like stripes gradually formed on both sides of lips due to long-term laughter are very deep. Generally speaking, this is a fake smile, perhaps the result of too much participation in election campaigns and other public social activities.

With a slightly mesoderm-like chin and some internal strength, it shows that he is likely to have some aggressive spirit.

To sum up, this contradictory face shows two different personalities: on the one hand, it reflects that he is a cheerful, sensitive, active, energetic, enthusiastic and kind person; On the other hand, it reflects his inner anxiety, anxiety and depression, as well as his struggle with anger, anxiety and unhappiness. The obvious conflict between these two aspects of his personality may be related to the obvious emotional turmoil.

People will surely ask, how many times did Carter go through the experience of "rebirth" before trying to solve this conflict in his heart. People may guess, in the future, what kind of serious pressure and problems may make these inconsistent aspects of his personality more.

postscript

About fifteen years ago, I came across an article introducing the English version of Reading Face, which made me interested in this book. However, due to the openness and socio-economic environment in China at that time, it was not easy for me to buy the original foreign language books directly as an individual, but I never gave up my efforts to find this book.

Three years later, I managed to get in touch with the main author of this book, Dr. Leopold Bellak, through an American friend. When Mr Barak heard that readers in China wanted his works, he readily promised to give me several other academic works, including Reading Face. From that enthusiastic letter, I learned that some of his academic works, including Reading Face, have been published in 1 1 countries in different languages, including Japan, Pakistan, Russia and Spain.

When I received the book Reading Face and read it at the fastest speed, I was attracted by the interesting and convenient way to read other people's faces in the book. I immediately expressed my hope to translate this book into Chinese and introduce it to readers in China. My idea received a positive response from Mr. Bellak, who said in his letter that he hoped to win a large number of readers in China, the most populous country in the world. With the support of Mr. Barak, I devoted myself to the hard and interesting translation work. However, after the translation was completed, the publication of the Chinese version of the book ran aground due to publishing problems such as copyright transfer. As time went on, I gradually forgot to publish this book because I was busy with "charging" and scientific research in my spare time. However, I have always cherished my correspondence with Mr. Barak.

In the early summer of 2003, I found the translation lying there when I was sorting out the bookshelf. I happened to talk to friends in the publishing industry about this book, and they became interested. They believe that although this book has been published for more than ten years, in today's open social environment in China, the range of communication between people is constantly expanding, and the social interpersonal relationship is becoming increasingly complex. The contents in the book-an interesting and practical method of simply interpreting faces-are very beneficial for people to gain insight into others and enhance social communication. They believe that in view of the active copyright trade between China and other countries in the world, it is no longer a problem to solve publishing affairs including copyright transfer through normal channels. In this way, with their enthusiastic encouragement, I seriously revised the original translation.
