The inner structure of the Opera House imitates Mayan culture and the Aztec Temple. Sydney Opera House is mainly composed of two main halls, some small theaters, performance halls and other ancillary facilities. Both halls are located in the larger sail structure, and the small performance hall is located in the base at the bottom. The largest main hall is the concert hall, which can accommodate 2679 people.
The original intention of the design is to build this largest hall into an opera house. Later, the design was changed, and even the completed opera stage was demolished and rebuilt. There is a big organ in the concert hall, which was made by Ronald Sharp from 1969 to 1979. Known as the world's largest mechanical wooden connecting rod organ, it consists of 10500 air pipes.
Extended data:
First, the appearance structure
The appearance of Sydney Opera House is three groups of huge shells, which stand on the foundation of cast-in-place reinforced concrete structure with a length of 186 meters from north to south and a width of 97 meters from east to west. The first group of shells is on the west side of the lot. Four pairs of shells are arranged in a string, three pairs face north and one pair faces south. There is a big concert hall inside. The second group is on the east side of the lot, roughly parallel to the first group, with the same form and slightly smaller scale than the Opera House.
The third group is the smallest group in their southwest, which consists of two pairs of shells and has a restaurant inside. Other rooms are cleverly arranged in the base. The entrance of the whole building complex is at the southern end, and the steps are 97 meters wide.
The vehicle entrance and parking lot are located under the big steps. Sydney Opera House is located in Sydney Harbour, surrounded by water on three sides and with an open environment. It is famous for its unique architectural design. It is shaped like three triangles looking up at the seaside, and its roof is as white as a shell, so it has the reputation of "a quiet nun looking up".
Second, tortuous design and construction.
Sydney Opera House was conceived and built in 1950s. From 1955, the design works from all over the world were publicly collected. By1956 * *, 233 works from 32 countries have participated in the competition. Later, I chose the design picture of Danish architect Jon Wu Zhong.
Jon Woo Chung's design was inspired by cut oranges. The project took 14 years and cost120,000 Australian dollars to complete. In order to raise funds, in addition to raising funds, the Australian government also issued a lottery ticket of 1959 for the Sydney Opera House.
During the construction process, the architect left Australia on 1966 because of the disagreement between the reorganized new Australian government and Jon Wu. Since then, he has never set foot on Australian soil, and even his classic works can't be witnessed.
Later, the work was completed by a group of Australian architects, including Peter Hall, Lionel Todd and David Littlemore. Sydney Opera House was finally officially opened on1October 20th, 1973.
