Beijing Nantang: Nantang (the earliest Catholic church in Beijing)

The oldest Catholic church in this city is Nantang. Most people call it Xuanwu Gate Hall. The emperor shunzhi came here 24 times to have a heart-to-heart talk with Tang Ruowang. 1775, Nantang was destroyed by a fire and rebuilt by Emperor Qingganlong. 1900 burned again, 1904 rebuilt. It has three courtyards. The first courtyard of the Chinese main entrance is Notre Dame, the east courtyard is a church, and the west courtyard is a house. In addition, there are observatories and libraries. The front of the church faces south, which is baroque style and the interior is Roman style. The entrance is decorated with three magnificent and exquisite arches.

Xishiku Church: Beitang (the largest Catholic church in Beijing)

The original site of Beitang is located in the Silkworm Pond (diagonally opposite to the Old Beijing Library) on the lakeside of Zhongnanhai, which opened on 1703. 1887, Zhongnanhai was demolished due to expansion. Later, the Qing government allocated 452,000 yuan to build Xi 'anmen Xishiku. /kloc-When it was renovated in 0/900, it was elevated to a higher floor and became the solemn and beautiful North Hall we see today. Beitang is a typical Gothic building. Its four tall spires, three pointed arches and the round rose window in the middle of the main span create a dignified and beautiful facade, which is more and more white and straight around the pine and cypress. There is a China Pavilion on the left and right in front of the main hall, with a yellow glazed tile roof at four corners. In the pavilion, there is a stone tablet inscribed by Gan Long. One west and one middle school, one high and one short, cleverly matched, amazing. The statues of saints on both sides of the main entrance are unique among churches in Beijing. 1985, the church was renovated and became the most beautiful church in Beijing.

Wangfujing Dong Tang

The East Hall on Wangfujing Street was built at 1655. It turned out to be a house given by the emperor shunzhi to two foreign Taoist priests. The two men built a small church in the open space, which was destroyed many times by earthquakes and wars. 1904 reconstruction. 1980 reopened after restoration. Due to the geographical location, the facade of the East Hall faces west. Its architectural form is Roman. Thick pilasters and a dome-shaped dome with one high and two low have laid its rich style. In 2000, with the expansion project of Wangfujing Street, the government allocated10.3 billion yuan to carry out internal and external renovation, demolish the courtyard wall, expand the square in front of the hall, add floor lamps for fountains and rebuild the St. Joseph Memorial Pavilion. It is worth mentioning that the original courtyard gate had to move 2 meters inward because it was within the red line of the road. But its architectural style and color are so closely coordinated with the church that many old Beijingers think it is the original old courtyard gate. The statue in the pavilion is white and the lights are gorgeous at night, and the East Hall has ushered in a glory that has never been seen in history.

Xitang

Xitang, on the south side of Xizhimen Inner Street, is the youngest of these four cousins. Built in 1723 and rebuilt in 19 12. Zhushikou Church, a Christian church in Beijing, is located in Qianmenwai Street. It was built in the late Qing Dynasty 1904 and was also built by the American Methodist Church. It is the only Christian church in Cheng Nan with a simple Gothic appearance. Now it is a three-story building, which can accommodate thousands of people to worship. However, in 2000, when Guangdong-Guangxi Road was widened and built, in order not to affect the church, an extension auxiliary road was specially built in its north and south, so that zhushikou Church remained in its original place and became a small roundabout on Guang 'an Avenue. Later, millions of dollars were spent to maintain and repair the church, making it quite eye-catching and unique.

Gangwa church

Gangwacheng Church is located at No.57, Xisi South Street, Beijing, with east-west orientation, simple appearance and interior decoration. It is the oldest Christian church in Beijing. Lao She, a famous writer, studied at an English evening school held by Gangwa Church when he was young, lived in the backyard of the church for a period of time, and was baptized into Christianity in this church. Post-Sang Yu Catholic Church

The oldest church in Beijing. The Catholic Church was founded in Qing Dynasty, and it is also one of the only two Catholic churches in Mentougou District. The church is located in Housangyu Village, Zhaitang Town, Mentougou District. It can accommodate more than 400 people. There is a plaque of 1 on the screen inside the gate, which reads "Love is pregnant". The church is made of blue bricks and lined with stone walls, and it is more than 7 meters high. The south wall has large French windows, Gothic architectural style, and a white minaret at the top. In the church, there is an altar in the east, a music building in the west and a dome at the top.

Xuanwumen Catholic Church

The Xuanwu Gate Catholic Church has three courtyards, the gate of which is a Chinese building, occupying the first courtyard of the church, the main church building in the east and the living room in the west. The main building of the church is a brick structure, facing south. The facade of this building is a typical baroque style. The juxtaposition of three magnificent brick arches makes the facade of the whole building look luxurious and solemn. The whole building is lined with bricks, and exquisite brick carvings can be seen everywhere. The indoor space of the church building adopts dome design, with colored rose windows on both sides, and the overall atmosphere is solemn. 1996 Xuanwumen Catholic Church is listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit.
