Since 195 1 the people's government established the overseas Chinese farm here, more than 10000 returned overseas Chinese from 2 1 countries and regions have been resettled, with a current population of 25,796.

The farm has become an overseas Chinese enterprise with comprehensive development of agriculture, industry and commerce tourism. It owns165,612 mu, and has reclaimed 12 1.027 mu, including more than 80,000 mu of tropical crops such as rubber, coffee, pepper, rice and coconut.

In April, Hu Jintao, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of president, China and Vice President of China, planted trees in Xinglong Tropical Garden.

In April, 2000, the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, State Councilor and Minister of National Defense Chi Haotian visited Xinglong Tropical Garden. The cultural and health undertakings of Xinglong Overseas Chinese Farm have made great progress: there are 14 schools on the farm, including 1 primary school, 1 senior middle school and1junior middle school. There are more than 5000 students and 326 teachers. Starting from 1986, nine-year compulsory education is implemented on farms, and primary and junior high schools are free to enroll. 1989 In September, the Xinglong teaching class of Hainan Radio and TV University was established, and on May 7 of the following year, the Xinglong branch of Hainan Radio and TV University was established, which pushed Xinglong education to a new level.

In terms of medical and health care, the farm implements three levels of medical care, including Red Cross Hospital 1, subordinate district clinics 10, production team first-class clinics 15, beds 100, and 208 medical staff.

In order to enrich the cultural and sports activities of farm workers, the farm has also built cultural and entertainment facilities such as cultural center square, amateur sports school, workers' swimming pool, lighting stadium and library. The TV satellite ground receiving network covers the whole production team. All grass-roots units have reading rooms and cultural rooms.
