The library of Hefei University was formed by merging the former library of Hefei Union University, the library of Hefei Education College and the library of Hefei Normal College. The existing building covers an area of 12433 square meters and is divided into two buildings, north and south. There are social science, natural science, novel stacks and 13 reading room, with 1435 reading seats, which are open every week for 105 hours and receive more than 600,000 readers every year. The whole library is divided into four business departments: office, editorial department, reading department, circulation department and information technology department. University library, as the document information center of university, is highly valued by the university. In order to conform to the development trend of modern libraries and meet the needs of teaching, scientific research and personnel training, the college increases its investment in libraries every year. In 20001year, the college invested in the construction of a new library in the north area, and directly loaned 2 million yuan for equipment renewal and automation construction, which made the library show a brand-new look to all teachers and students. After the merger of the three universities in July, 2003, the college built a new teaching building in the south campus as the library of the south campus.
