The purpose of Henan Library is: sincere service and happy reading. Henan Library has also opened 4 1 lending points in the whole province, which are distributed in mountainous areas, schools, troops and prisons. In order to strengthen the level of library automation management, Henan Library purchased u6000/65 minicomputer from unisys Company of the United States on 1993, adopted the application system of library automation integration system of Shenzhen Library and Culture Department (ILAS), established Henan Library automation integration system, and opened subsystems such as circulation, interview, cataloging, retrieval, reference and continuous publishing. At the end of 2000, the electronic reading room was established, 1998, which realized a CD-ROM network system based on the local area network of the provincial library center and characterized by a CD-ROM server. It is convenient to search online and has rich resources, which can provide users with rich data resources such as bibliographic databases and CD-ROM data. Henan Library is the hub connecting the National Library and the libraries of cities and counties in Henan Province, and the center of all kinds of libraries in the province. It undertakes the guidance, consultation and research functions of city and county libraries, and besides holding various business training courses, it also offers perennial junior college classes.

The Children's Department of Henan Library, located in Yousheng North Road, has also done a lot of work in the process of cultivating the all-round development of teenagers' morality, intelligence, physique and beauty.
