Encyclopedia of common sense of life: six taboos of family library collection
As a modern family, it is very important to emphasize the taste of knowledge. As the saying goes, "Bouquet flowers are not as good as books, and gold and silver are not as good as books." The number of letters from home is not a window dressing as most people say, but a sign and symbol of a family's knowledge taste. For those who are interested in this aspect, the author would like to talk about the taboos of family book collection. Letters from home have the following six taboos:
Avoid dust. Dust accumulates on books, which not only defiles books, but also is a place where insects and molds hide and breed. Therefore, it is necessary to always pat off the dust on the surface of the book by hand, and then regularly wipe the surface of the book with a soft towel specially used to wipe the book, so that the guarantee is in a constantly new state.
Second, avoid the tide. Humidity is a favorable environment for insects to mold, which is harmful to books. Therefore, books should be dried in a cool, dry and ventilated place at least once every six months. The legs of bookcases are generally 20 cm above the ground to prevent possible damage caused by domestic water.
Three bogey insects. There are many pests that destroy books, such as booklice, termites, moths, butterflies and cockroaches. There are mice and microorganisms, among which bacteria and fungi (also called molds) are the most harmful. Therefore, it is best to put two mothballs or naphthalene pills in each layer of books to prevent the books from being eaten by insects.
Four avoid light. Books are not only afraid of sunlight, but also of fluorescent lights. The main reason is that the ultraviolet rays in the light will make the paper aging, and the yellowing of the paper is mostly caused by ultraviolet rays. Never expose the book directly in the sun, which will not only prevent moisture, but also directly reduce the life of the book because of exposure.
Five avoid high temperature. The book itself is not afraid of heat, but a certain temperature and humidity will create favorable conditions for insects to mold. Therefore, the general collection places always require low temperature or air conditioning, especially precious books. The cupboard door should be opened regularly for ventilation to ensure the normal "breathing" of the "lungs" of books. Drying books in a cool, dry and ventilated place every summer is the best heat protection measure.
6. Avoid stress. When a book is under too much pressure, the air between pages can't circulate, and it is easy to stick between pages. The solution to this problem is to turn it over frequently, instead of putting a book at the bottom all the year round. Don't crowd the books too tightly. It is advisable to take them out anytime and anywhere from top to bottom. Otherwise, the spine of the book will turn yellow and the color of the book cover will be inconsistent. These people who love books like life are the most sad.
