Guangzhou Giant Buddha Temple is located at No.21Huixin Middle Street, Huifu East Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province (west of Beijing Road and just south of Guangzhou Department Store). Guangzhou Giant Buddha Temple was built in the Southern Han Dynasty (AD 9 17-97 1) as a new Tibetan temple, built on the glass of the Southern Han Dynasty, and stayed in the sky for 28 nights.
In the Ming Dynasty, it was expanded into Longzang Temple, and later changed to Inspection Department. In the first year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty (1649), the study was destroyed by fire. In the spring of the second year of Kangxi, Wang Shangxi of Pingnan donated his own imperial pension to rebuild a temple with Lingnan local style, imitating the official temple system in Shi Jing, which has high cultural and artistic ornamental value.
Daxiong Hall faces south, with a building area of1.200m2.. It is still the highest in Lingnan. Despite more than 300 years of wind and rain erosion, its style still exists. High-quality wood donated by King Annan (present-day Vietnam) as a beam-column framework has been basically intact so far. The 11th year of Yongzheng (1733).
Liu Shu, the magistrate of Guangzhou, chose the Great Buddhist Temple as the lecture venue, and built a lecture pavilion in front of the temple. At the same time, there are Wei Tuo Hall, Jialan Hall, "Buddha Country" and "Zen Forest" on both sides of the main hall. At this time, the scope of the temple expanded, Buddhism flourished and its reputation spread far and wide, becoming one of the five jungles after the recovery.
After the Cultural Revolution, the Guangzhou Municipal Government approved the reopening of the Great Buddha Temple. 198 1 year, Master Guangming, vice president of Guangzhou Buddhist Association, became the abbot and began to rebuild. After hard work, the Hall of the Great Heroes was restored to its original appearance, and three bronze Buddha statues were recast, each with a height of 6 meters and a weight of 10 ton. More and more domestic and foreign tourists and pilgrims come to visit the Buddha ceremony. On August 9th, 1993, the Guangzhou Municipal Government announced the Giant Buddha Temple as a municipal cultural relics protection unit.
The Great Buddha Temple, one of the five jungles in Guangzhou, was built in the Southern Han Dynasty and has a history of more than 1000 years. In 2003, Sun Yat-sen Library of Guangdong Province listed this museum as "Buddhist Branch of Sun Yat-sen Library of Guangdong Province", and in 2005, Guangzhou Municipal People's Government awarded the title of "Site of Civilized Religious Activities" to the Great Buddha Temple. The late elder Yunfeng once wrote an inscription for the library: "Reading the classics and reading the law often makes nature peaceful, and hope that Buddha's kindness will calm the mind."
