Guangzhou Nanyang Institute of Technology is a provincial full-time ordinary college approved by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and filed by the Ministry of Education.

The school was founded in1985 as Guangzhou Nanyang Counseling University. 1996 was renamed Guangzhou Nanyang Institute of Technology; In 2003, Guangdong Provincial College Establishment Committee approved the establishment of Guangzhou Nanyang Polytechnic Vocational College.
