Hengyang Library is located in Hengyang City, an important town in south-central China and a central city in northern South China. It is one of the earliest libraries in Hunan Province, only after Hunan Library. From the establishment of 19 17 to the early 1990s, it was the second largest library in Hunan Province, second only to Hunan Library. At present, it is the largest municipal comprehensive public library in Hunan Province. It was awarded the title of "National Civilized Library" by 1999 and 2004.

Hengyang Library, 1988, was rated as a national first-class library by the Ministry of Culture, and it is the only municipal public library preserved in the province since the founding of the People's Republic of China. It is mainly responsible for collecting, sorting, preserving, developing, utilizing and transmitting literature resources, and developing public cultural services of libraries.

Hengyang Library was established on 19 17 and opened on 192 1. It was once called Hengyang Public Library, Provincial Hengyang Library, and Hengyang Chuanshan Library, and it was the only municipal public library in Hunan Province that was preserved in New China. The building has been moved many times and its name has been changed many times. The current name was fixed at 1966, and then moved to the current address 1975. The existing building area of Hengyang Library is 36,480 square meters, including newspaper department, lending department, editing and modern technology department, special literature department, counseling activity department and office, with external service windows 10.
