Xujiadawu is located in Nanling County, Wuhu City, and its history can be traced back to the Qing Dynasty.
Located in the area of the original county hospital, it was completed in the 10th year of Guangxu (1884). Apart from the pavilions and gardens, there are 99 and a half houses, covering an area of 10000 square meters. It is the largest ancient building in the modern history of Nanling.
The builder of JOE Mansion is Xu Wenda, a famous official in the late Qing Dynasty. Xu Wenda (1825- 1890) was born in Shanfeng Village, Gongshan Town. In the third year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty (1853), during the fierce battle between the Qing army and the Taiping Army, Xu Wenda came forward to organize militia to help the Qing army strengthen the four-door guard in the county. He also took various ways to invite local gentry, rich families and businessmen to collect food and pay for military supplies. Many years later, Xu Wenda sat on the throne of the salt ambassador of Huai River and Huai River. He was a high-ranking official and was very powerful for a while. On her mother's seventieth birthday, she wants to build a mansion to celebrate. As soon as the news came out, many businesses rushed to give gifts. According to legend, many rich people carry giant Yixing flowerpots, plant blooming peonies, hide gold and silver jewelry under them, and spend hundreds of thousands of yuan on life-saving equipment. Xu Wenda used the money to build a large-scale project on the site where the restaurant owner had bullied him in the West Street of Nanling County. In the early years of the Republic of China, both Xujia and Xujia House declined. Xu Wenda's descendants lived in Xujiadawu until the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. At the end of 1938, with the fall of Nanling, all the descendants of Xu fled back to their hometown. Since then, the Xu family has never returned to the Xujiadawu. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it became a "72-family" building complex.
The main building of JOE Building covers an area of 10000 square meters, with simple architectural modeling and beautiful environment. It is the largest private house complex in the modern history of Nanling, known as "ninety-nine and a half rooms". At the beginning of the construction of JOE Building, there were nine entrances, and the front and rear entrances were separated by patios. Each entrance is a two-story building with roughly the same rules. There is a walking corridor on the second floor, and the outside of the corridor is a delicate carved railing. In addition, the courtyards, doors, windows, beams and even small sidewalks of the entire Xujiafu are exquisitely decorated, with carved beams and painted buildings everywhere, and the production technology is extremely exquisite.
In 20 12, Xujiadawu was announced by Anhui Provincial People's Government as the seventh batch of provincial cultural relics protection units.
