65438-0958, Hunan Forestry College, one of the predecessors of the school, was born in the hot years. 1963, at the initiative of Tao Zhu, a proletarian revolutionary of the older generation, Hunan Forestry College merged with the Forestry Department of South China Agricultural University to form Central South Forestry College. After decades of relocation, in 2003, the main body of the school moved to Changsha. In 2005, Central South Forestry College was renamed as Central South University of Forestry and Technology.

The school is divided into two campuses, Changsha and Zhuzhou, with 28 colleges, 5 departments, 3 institutes and 3 centers.
