Brief Introduction of xidian university Library
The predecessor of xidian university Library was the Engineering School of the Central Military Commission, which was founded in Zhangjiakou on August 1949. At present, a document resource guarantee system featuring information and electronics has been gradually formed, with science, engineering, literature, management and economics coexisting. It consists of Shaw Library and the temporary library of the new campus, with a total construction area of 20,600 square meters. Shaw Hall has six departments: document construction department, circulation department, reading department, system department, information consultation department and library office, and a temporary library is set up in the new campus. By the end of 20 14, our library had 6140,000 books, including 2.34 million paper books, 3.8 million electronic books, 300 Chinese and foreign periodicals, 45 Chinese and foreign electronic resource platforms and 20 databases. It has more than 30,000 audio-visual tapes, floppy disks, CD-ROMs attached with books and software CDs, and 23 kinds of Chinese and foreign language network databases and CD-ROMs databases, covering all disciplines in the school.

Brief introduction of Shaw Library

Due to the partial support of Mr. Shao, it was named Shaw Library.

Shaw Library has five departments: Literature Construction Department, North Campus Lending Department, Digital Resources and Technology Department, Information Consulting Department and Library Office, providing 1800 reading seats.

The lobby on the second floor of the south podium is equipped with a general book return office, a general consultation office, campus card activation, registration and OPAC public retrieval terminals.

Introduction of South Campus Library

The South Campus Library laid the foundation stone on July 1 2005, mainly serving more than 20,000 undergraduates in the new campus. The South Campus Library covers an area of 40,000 square meters, with five floors, one underground and four above ground. The south campus library implements the management mode of integrated lending, all-round opening and unified lending and return. The south campus library has advanced facilities and elegant and warm reading environment.

By 20 13, the open area is half the space on the first, second and third floors, with seven integrated stacks, a newspaper/reference reading room, two electronic/digital learning reading rooms, three study rooms, three appointment reading rooms, a training room, an academic lecture hall and several leisure areas. There are 3450 reading seats. The weekly opening hours are 88 hours.
