Author: compiled by Pingtan County Local Records Compilation Committee, Fujian Province

This 36-volume book describes the politics, economy, culture, geography, scenic spots, customs and other aspects of Pingtan County. Compiling and revising local chronicles is a fine cultural tradition in China. The compilation of Pingtan local chronicles began in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty. In the 30th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1904), Haitan Annals (edited by Guo Wancheng), Pingtan Scenery Annals, People Annals (edited by Shi Tianzhang) and Pingtan Local Annals (edited by Song Dynasty) were compiled successively, but they have all been lost. In 10 (192 1), Huang Lvsi, a magistrate of a county, initiated the compilation of Pingtan County Records, which was completed the following year. The book has 34 volumes and more than 200,000 words. In April of 3 1 year, the county government prepared to renew the county annals, set up corresponding institutions and appoint the editor-in-chief. However, due to the turbulent situation, the original plan was "stillborn". Therefore, it is a pity that since the publication of Pingtan County Records in the Republic of China, no new county records have been published for more than 80 years. Data Collection 1992 During the first half of the year, in order to cooperate with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the county, historical materials were extensively collected, and the Chronicle of Pingtan County was compiled and published,180,000 words. Since then, due to personnel changes, the compilation of local chronicles has been intermittent, and the county local chronicles office mainly assists in compiling departmental chronicles. By 1994, departmental records were compiled one after another, including sports records, urban and rural construction records, traffic records, navigation records, military records, land records and so on. Because the compilation and revision of county chronicles can not be fully rolled out, the compilation of county chronicles has made slow progress. 1in the spring of 995, the leaders of provincial and municipal local chronicles editorial committees visited Lanzhou many times to supervise and inspect the compilation of local chronicles. In order to speed up the pace of local chronicles compilation, the county party committee and the county government adjusted the local chronicles compilation committee, with the county magistrate Fang Zhigong as the director, and signed letters of responsibility with 56 units undertaking the task of local chronicles compilation, which was completed within a time limit. At the same time, adjust and enrich the editors of county records, and determine the chief and deputy editors. Secondment of personnel from relevant departments to enhance the overall strength. All the staff in the editing room, while actively tutoring various departments to compile professional records, extensively collected information, went to archives at all levels and related historical preservation units, and visited insiders in towns and villages. By June 1996 and 10, the 56 units that signed the responsibility letter had successively completed the first draft of departmental records, and the county records editing room had also collected nearly100000 words. Due to the method of completing the first draft of departmental records step by step and rewriting sub-records, the contents of records are enriched and the quality of records is guaranteed. The compilation process of 1997 was a year of concerted efforts, painstaking efforts and hard work by editors Qi Xin. Under the specific guidance of provincial and municipal local chronicles editorial committees, the contents of local chronicles have been adjusted many times, and problems such as improper style and irregular expression in local chronicles have been dealt with in time, emphasizing "three natures" (ideological, scientific and knowledgeable). All members of the County Records Review Committee carefully and responsibly reviewed the first draft, gleaned and filled the gaps, and worked hard for the continuous improvement of the first draft. In August of that year, the leaders of provincial and municipal local chronicles editorial committees came to the county to hold a local chronicles review meeting. The meeting held that the draft has clear guiding ideology, reasonable content, solid foundation and successful writing. At the same time, many amendments were proposed. Since then, the whole draft has been revised many times and further edited. According to the requirements of the "third trial", it finally passed the examination of the municipal local chronicles editorial Committee and the acceptance of the provincial local chronicles editorial Committee. Overview of Significance Through years of practice in compiling local chronicles, I deeply realized that "it is difficult to compile history, but it is determined to win". Due to the lack of historical materials, the compilation scope of local chronicles is very wide, especially before and after the Republic of China, which brings great difficulties to the compilation of local chronicles. Coupled with lack of experience and limited level, it is inevitable that there will be omissions and mistakes. It is worth mentioning that all the editors are full of enthusiasm, make progress despite difficulties, do their best, and make a lot of efforts to successfully complete the task of compiling records! What is particularly prominent is that the county archives bureau has been awarded the title of county advanced unit for four consecutive years. When the general compilation work is about to be completed, the comrades of the County Records Office ran around for help in order to raise publishing funds, and got strong support from the County Ferry Office, the County Post Office, the County Construction Bureau, the County Life Insurance Company, the County Bureau of Geology and Minerals, the County Water Supply Company, the County Hospital, the County Health Bureau and the County Regal Real Estate Company. On the occasion of the publication of local records, they expressed their heartfelt thanks and high respect to the leaders, experts, colleagues and people from all walks of life who supported the local records work.

brief introduction

Pingtan is the fifth largest island in China and the largest island in Fujian. Pingtan Island looks like a unicorn, which means good luck. It is a "treasure island of geomantic omen" occupying a geographical position, a treasure house of resources with great potential, a hot spot for industrial development and a bright future at sea. It is the hub of the north-south "sea corridor" in the western Pacific Ocean, located in the prominent part of the south wing of the golden triangle economic circle in Minjiang Estuary, Fuzhou, only 68 nautical miles away from Hsinchu, Taiwan Province Province, which is the closest place for the mainland to Taiwan Province Province. Its unique geographical location makes it a leader in open development.

Pingtan, a unique island criss-crossing Hong Kong and Macao, is known as "Thousand Island Reef County". It stands on the sea, and the ground is flat as an altar, also known as a sea altar; Because Junshan on the island is often filled with fog, it is also called Lan Island. This is a beautiful and magical land. The sand and water here are clean and the rocks are beautiful. Known as "the first coastal beach in China and the first marine erosion landform in the world"; Surrounded by the sea on all sides, the waterway is smooth, the tide is beautiful and the shore is wide, the scenery is beautiful, the trees are shaded and the resources are rich. It has many advantages such as ocean, port, land, building materials and tourism development.

Pingtan, with outstanding people and outstanding people, is rich in humanities. The ancient book says, "Gui Long is called the Four Spirits." The land of Kirin is full of gas. History, although it has not produced prominent dignitaries for Pingtan, has also given birth to countless people with lofty ideals. Here, there are endless historical customs and entrepreneurial poems. The Neolithic Keqiutou cultural site shows that Pingtan has a history of human civilization of 67000 years. Here, the deeds of six magistrates and ten generals are well known; Qi Jiguang and Zheng Chenggong fought against Japan and defended their country, and the story of a bloody sea altar was widely circulated.

Pingtan has experienced many vicissitudes and a bright future. Pingtan's administrative evolution has undergone several changes, and it was not until the first year of the Republic of China (19 12) that it was independently established as a county. Although the county history of Pingtan is only a short moment in the long river of history, the historical latitude and longitude of more than 80 years are also intertwined with the wind and waves of Haitan, recording the changes of the times. According to the book Diseases of All Countries in the World, "Pingtan used to be called Haitan Mountain, producing horses. It is said to be a dragon species, so it is a horse farm in the Tang Dynasty. At the beginning of the Song Dynasty, I set up a pastoral supervisor to collect them, listen to fishermen's miscellaneous farming, and increase their soldiers to guard them. " It seems that even in the prosperous times of feudalism, this place is just a place for hoarding soldiers and releasing horses. However, the pace of the times always has to move forward. History has never only given Pingtan the mission of preparing for war. Due to the special geographical location, the trade between Lanzhou and Taiwan Province has a long history. Guanyin 'ao was one of the important windows of Fujian's trade with Taiwan during the Xianfeng period of Qing Dynasty. However, although there have been extraordinary experiences in history, the real glory of Pingtan lies in today and the future. In the tide of China's reform and opening up, Pingtan is opening its doors and absorbing the wind of world civilization. 360,000 Haitan children, under the leadership of China Production Party, are writing a brand-new historical chapter with their diligence and wisdom. Today, Pingtan is showing a thriving scene, drawing water by electricity, paving roads in Hong Kong, farming, animal husbandry and fishing in the sea, and creating new industries. The traces of history are gradually replaced by the imprint of reality, but the past is vast and vivid. History is forward-looking and people are creative. We firmly believe that the children of Lan Island can not only change the status quo, but also create the future.

The time sequence is constantly updated and the past is worth remembering. Thousands of years have passed and 80 years have passed. How many amazing feats there are, and how much experience there is in rectifying Jianye! Taking history as a mirror, we can know the rise and fall. The reason why human beings can bid farewell to the wild and move towards glory lies in their spirituality and courage to learn from the past and forge ahead. Humans can't just stay in the intoxication of success, but also suffer from pain and regret. Let people grasp the pulse of the times, feel the breath of struggle, learn useful experience, remember wrong lessons and explore new ways of starting a business from the historical rings. This is the purpose and significance of the newly compiled Pingtan County Records.

Thirty-six volumes of Pingtan County Chronicle, with more than one million words, is a masterpiece. The county has a history of thousands of years and a vast territory. Editors have worked hard, and history and the sea are linked, and their aspirations are commendable and they have contributed. To create records and history, you pay hard and gain wisdom. The publication of Pingtan county annals in Fu Zi will inspire people and inspire them to forge ahead. I firmly believe that at the turn of the century, Haitan children and people with lofty ideals should shoulder heavy responsibilities, live up to their mission and strive for greater glory!
