Shanghai Library has a collection of more than 0/30,000 volumes, ranking second in China and among the top ten libraries in the world. It is famous for its collection of genealogy, letters, modern Chinese and English newspapers and tablets. It also searched and recorded some ancient and modern music, opera records and tapes. Shanghai Library was founded in 1952, the former site is located at Huangpi intersection of Nanjing Road, Huaihai Middle Road 1996. The new building covers an area of 3 1 hectare, with a building area of 83,000 square meters and a library of 40,000 square meters. The main building consists of two high-rise buildings and a podium. The east and west layers are multi-dimensional ladder blocks, which symbolize the solid foundation of cultural accumulation and the continuous rise of human knowledge.
