home page

The synopsis of the story is Chengdu Gao Mansion, a big family with five children and grandchildren. Grandpa Gao is the master of this big family. There are three brothers, Chueh-hsin, Chueh-min and Chueh-hui, and their stepmother and their stepmother's daughter Shuhua. Because his parents died early, Chueh-hsin is now the eldest brother.

The eldest son, Sun Juexin, is precocious and weak. He was influenced by new ideas, but he dared not contradict his elders. When I was young, I fell in love with my cousin Mei, but I accepted my parents' arrangement and married another knight. He lived happily after marriage, had children and loved his beautiful wife, but he couldn't forget Mei, especially after Mei's marriage, when she became a widow and returned to Chengdu. The meeting between them brought him endless pain. Soon, Main died of depression.

Chueh-min and Chueh-hui participated in the new culture movement and student movement outside, and were reprimanded by their grandfather and placed under house arrest. Chueh-min and his cousin Qin fell in love, but grandpa got engaged for him, so Chueh-min ran away from home and Chueh-xin was caught between his younger brother and grandpa. Chueh-hui is the most rebellious of the three brothers, and he has a vague feeling for Ming-feng, the maid at home. Mr. Gao wants to marry Ming-feng to his friend Feng Leshan, the president of Confucianism, as a concubine. Ming-feng threw herself into the lake in despair, and Chueh-hui decided to leave her family.

Grandpa Gao found that his beloved son cheated his wife out of money to run a small mansion and owed a lot of money outside. Old Skean also went whoring with the actor, beat him and killed him. There was a big funeral at home, and Jue, who wanted to have a baby, was driven to the suburbs to have a baby on the grounds of avoiding the disaster of bloodshed. Chueh-hsin dared not object. Chueh-hsin died of dystocia due to poor care. Chueh-hsin repented that the family should be a traitor, and he supported Chueh-hui to leave home for Shanghai.

Home is Ba Jin's favorite work. At first, the novel was serialized in The Times, about 1000 words per day. Later, after a period of interruption due to the war, The Times changed its editor. Ba Jin suddenly received a letter complaining that the novel was too long and the newspaper didn't want to continue publishing it. After receiving the letter, Ba Jin sent all the rest of the manuscript in the past, and stated that if the newspaper was willing to complete it, he could not pay the manuscript fee. In his words, he "wrote for readers" and "finally did his duty as a writer". In this way, Home can be published completely.

spring

Synopsis Chueh-hui was free after fleeing from his family, but the tragedy at home was staged. Chueh-hsin's stepmother came to Chengdu on Monday to marry Chueh-hsin's cousin Hui. Hui is a smart and beautiful girl, but she was betrothed to the dissolute Chen family by her stubborn father. Everyone feels sorry for her. Chueh-hsin saw the shadow of Mei Hejue in her, but there was nothing she could do. At this time, Chueh-hsin's beloved son Haier died unfortunately, and he lost confidence in life. Chueh-min and Qin took an active part in the student movement and encouraged their brothers and sisters to run away from home.

Shuying in the third room was promised by her father to the Feng family. She tried her best to get rid of her unfortunate fate and even wanted to die like Ming-feng. Chueh-min and Chin decided to help her leave home and go to Shanghai to find Chueh-hui. Hui lived an unhappy life after marriage, and soon became ill, because her husband's family refused to ask western medicine to delay treatment and died silently. Hui's death stimulated Chueh-hsin again, and he began to support the plans of Chueh-min and others. Finally, with the help of Chueh-min and others, Shuying was escorted to Shanghai. At the end of spring, Chueh-hsin and others received a letter from Shanghai, which poured out her happiness after her release.

"Spring" wrote a story about how a girl got up the courage to go out of the house, which undoubtedly gave many young people the courage to resist. Therefore, Ba Jin has become a "consulting object" for many young people who want to betray their families. Among many consultants, a girl sent him a photo and asked him to meet and talk. As soon as they met, the girl talked about her conservative father and said that she would leave her family. Ba Jin sincerely advised girls not to be impulsive, thinking that young people should not easily step into a complex society before they are young. Since then, girls often talk to him when they are in trouble. She is Xiao Shan, and later became Ba Jin's wife.

autumn

Summary of the story Hui's coffin has been parked in the temple for more than a year. Her husband was busy with his second marriage and never thought of putting her in the grave. Under the "threat" of Chueh-hsin and Chueh-min, Hui has a place to live. Her confused father pushed his son into the fire pit again. She is only 17 years old and has signs of lung disease. Her father didn't want to admit that his son was ill, but he was busy marrying Miss Feng. They have a good relationship, but his wife is very angry and she is sandwiched between her and her elders. Shortly after the marriage, she died of illness, leaving her new wife and the fetus in her womb.

Keming of Sanfang repented after his daughter left. Two younger brothers wanted to sell the mansion and broke up, but the son failed. Keming left his pregnant wife in depression and passed away. Cui Huan, Shuying's maid, admired Chueh-hsin very much, and the third wife decided to give her to Chueh-hsin.

The Gaos were sold and the Gaos fell apart. In Chueh-hsin's letters to Chueh-hui and Shuying, he wrote about each room. Four rooms and five rooms continue to live an absurd life, and several cousins are still stubborn. The three parties live close to them and have a close relationship. He married Cui Huan himself and took her as his wife. As for Chueh-min and Chin, they also held a new wedding according to their own wishes and will soon go out to work.

Of course, the most brilliant image in Riptide Trilogy is the family rebel, but the most successful one is undoubtedly the "superfluous person" Chueh-hsin. For this character, Ba Jin has too many feelings. After the death of his parents, Ba Jin's eldest brother Yao Mei supported the whole family independently. In his letter to Ba Jin, he poured out all kinds of evils in his family. These materials inspired Ba Jin, who decided to take Big Brother as a clue to reveal the decline of a big family. What is rare is that Yao Mei wrote a letter to encourage Ba Jin to write after knowing this idea. Just as Ba Jin finished the sixth chapter of "Home", "Being a Big Brother", a telegram came and Yao Mei committed suicide under mental pressure. In autumn, Ba Jin gave Chueh-hsin a happy ending, which may be the last comfort for Yao Mei.

This is a drama in which three generations, old, middle-aged and young, perform on the same stage. Luo, the actor of Jui-chueh, also won the plum blossom award for the play. Her classmates Ji Wang, Zheng Tianwei and Song Dandan also played major roles in the play.

Star Edition (2003)

Screenwriter: Cao Yu

Director: Chen Xinyi

The biggest innovation of the whole drama is based on a poem dedicated by Ba Jin to his brother. Rui Jue of Xi Meijuan, Ming Feng of Chen Hong and Chueh-hui of Cheng all performed very well, especially Sun Daolin, 83, who played Lao.

● Opera "Home"

The Sichuan opera "House of Rapids" restored Chueh-hui's leading role in the novel, while Jui-chueh disappeared from the stage.

Shanghai Opera takes genre singing as an important means to portray characters, and boldly tries orchestral orchestration and 20-member choir.

In the Yue Opera, after Ming-feng jumped into the lake, Chueh-hui and Chueh-xin would have a fierce contest, which was never shown in Cao Yu's plays.

Unload the burden for the TV series "Home Spring and Autumn"

Ba Jin's masterpiece "Home" has long been adapted into a drama and a film. 1986, sctv planned to put Home, Spring and Autumn on the screen together, which was really an unprecedented move at that time.

1986 started planning and brewing, 1987 put into shooting, mainly in Sichuan, and finally finished shooting in Shanghai. When the large-scale TV series Home Spring and Autumn 19 was broadcast on CCTV, Shanghai TV, sctv and national TV, the response was very strong. Our TV station has received many enthusiastic letters, or encouragement, or inquiries, or suggestions from viewers. It is said that many young people went to the bookstore to buy Ba Lao's works, which caused a "Ba Jin fever" at that time.

Lv Zigui, former director of Sichuan Radio, Film and Television Department, once wrote an article recalling that under the recommendation of Comrade Li Zhi, several TV artists met Ba Lao. "Ba Lao is kind, cordial, kind and funny, which relieves our stiff psychology towards this literary giant. After a brief report to him, he agreed without hesitation and unexpectedly said a paragraph. My works were written decades ago and expressed in the form of novels. Your TV plays are showing them to the audience now. I hope that you can boldly re-create according to the characteristics and laws of TV art, and I will support it as long as it is beneficial to the audience. Your adaptation is very good, and my novel will shine brilliantly. Even if you don't adapt so well, it won't affect.

Ba Lao also said humorously: "In the past, Cao Yu adapted" Home "into a drama, which changed a lot. It doesn't matter, Cao Yu is Cao Yu's home and Ba Jin is Ba Jin's home. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses and can coexist. " This open-minded attitude greatly inspired the crew at that time.

With the feelings of loving home.

The first edition of Home

Home was first published by Shanghai Mingkai Bookstore in May, 1933. Previously, it was serialized in Shanghai Times in the name of torrent, and the serialization time was1931April 18 to1932 May 22.

A year later, Ming Kai Bookstore took the lead in publishing a separate book for Ba Jin's Riptide, which is now the first edition of Home. The first edition of Home is rarely seen so far. Among all the editions of Home published before liberation, its printing and binding are exquisite. The cover design of the first edition is simple and serious. The background color of the cover is white, and the word "torrent" is outlined with brown lines, and the words "home" and "Ba Zhu Jin" are superimposed on the two words, which is particularly eye-catching. The spine of this book is marked "Published by Ming Kai Bookstore", and the generous cover design has a clear meaning. At first glance, readers will know that this book "Home" is a torrent serialized in The Times not long ago.

The first edition of Home was slightly revised when it was serialized in The Times. When Ba Jin was reading the proofs of the singles, he added several paragraphs about the separation of Grandpa Gao after his death. The manuscript of Home was lost after The Times was published. As a result, these three pages of supplementary manuscripts became the only manuscripts in the family. 1987 10 At the exhibition of the 60th anniversary of Ba Jin's literary career held in Beijing, the three-page manuscript of Home and the manuscript of Spring and Autumn Annals met with readers. These precious manuscripts were donated by Ba Jin to Beijing Library in 1960s.

1937, Ming Kai Bookstore wanted to print the new fifth edition of Home, and Ba Jin made a big revision to the work, deleting 40 chapters and subtitles in the book. From then on, there are only numbers in the chapters of the family, and there are no words.

From 65438 to 0984, Shanghai Literature and Art Publishing House compiled the second set of new literature series in the history of modern literature in China. Ding Jingtang, a famous expert and scholar of modern literature, presided over this masterpiece of contemporary literary world, and Zhao Jiabi, a famous editor, served as a consultant. This series has collected important works from 1927 to 1937 in the second decade of modern literature. The ninth episode has Ba Jin's home, which is based on the first edition of Mingkai Bookstore. Except the cover and copyright page, the vertical layout is changed to horizontal layout, and the traditional Chinese characters are changed to simplified Chinese characters. Everything is arranged according to the first edition, which reproduces the original appearance of the first edition of Home.

Special edition and binding edition

At the end of 1937, Shanghai Ming Kai Bookstore reorganized its home according to the only proof kept by Ba Jin, and the revised edition was officially published in June of the following year. 1938 In March, Spring, the second part of Riptide Trilogy, came out. Ming Kai Bookstore specially bound the first two special editions for Ba Jin and gave them to him. Among them, the shell cover of Home is made of light brown satin, and the embroidery is decorated with dark brown five-pointed maple leaves. There are no words on the cover, but there is a bronze "home" on the spine. The shell cover of "Spring" is made of light green satin and decorated with tea-green five-pointed maple leaves. The cover is also wordless, and the spine is gilded with the word "Spring", which is elegant and eye-catching. 1940, Autumn by Ba Jin was published, and Ming Kai Bookstore made a special edition for Autumn. This hard-shell cover uses the traditional dragon and phoenix patterns in China, which is intriguing compared with the decline of the Gaos in the book. The three special editions produced by Ming Kai Bookstore for Ba Jin's Riptide Trilogy can be said to be unique, and its precious value can be imagined. Now these three special issues are also kept in China Museum of Modern Literature.

In addition, after the first edition of Ba Jin's Spring, Ming Kai Bookstore also produced a bound volume of Home and Spring for the author. The cover is hard-shell green velvet, and the words "the first collector of torrent, Ba Jin Spring" are printed in the middle of the spine. The ring lining of this book is dark green and there is no copyright page. Family Income is a revised edition published in February of 1937. In addition to the preface of Riptide, the preface to a person and the inscription of the fifth edition, the preface of the tenth revised edition is attached-to a cousin of mine. There is a page of grass-green paper between the bound calligrapher and spring, just like a piece of green grass full of vitality.

A life-changing version

Home is a novel written by Ba Jin at the age of 27. He cherished this novel very much, and the revision almost accompanied him for most of his life. He said in the postscript to his conversation with readers in June 1957: "I am still very excited to reread Home recently. I like this novel myself, because it tells me at least one thing, that youth is beautiful. I always remember that youth is beautiful. It has always been my inspiration. "

In the 40th chapter of the novel, when Chueh-hui ran away from home, many people went to see him off, but Yun Jian didn't. In the first edition, Chueh-hui said to Chueh-min, "I know his lung disease is very serious, and I'm afraid he won't live long." When it was revised for the tenth time in February, 1937, the author made this change: "He has lung disease, but he should be well kept for one or two years." 1953 In March, when the novel was bathed in the sunshine of new China, the writer changed this sentence to: "He is in poor health and should have a good rest." From the change of Yun Jian's illness, we can easily see that writers do not want the youth in their novels to "die", but hope that their beautiful youth will shine one day. These changes reveal the writer's goodwill and ardent hope for the younger generation.

1In July, 982, Sichuan People's Publishing House began to publish ten volumes of Ba Jin's Collected Works, and the first volume included His Home. Ba Jin, as always, revised the novel, but this time the change was the least. He said it might be the last time. 1984 65438+In February, Ba Jin said in the preface of Riptide Trilogy published by Hong Kong Tiandi Book Company that he had decided not to change his home today, but the reason was not that he didn't want to. He said, "I'm not writing a model novel." (Comprehensive report of this newspaper)
