The East Library of Shanghai Library is located at No.300 Yingchun Road, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, adjacent to Century Park in the east. The main building of the exhibition hall is located on a quadrilateral plot consisting of Yingchun Road, He Huan Road, Jinxiu Road and century avenue Wai. It is one of the major cultural facilities construction projects in Shanghai during the 13th Five-Year Plan period.
The East Pavilion above is the largest library with single building area in China, with a total building area of115000m2, designed by Danish SHL Architects. Construction started on September 27th, 20 17, and the structure was capped on September 20th, 20 19. The space of the museum includes 7 floors above ground and 2 floors underground. After opening, it can provide nearly 6,000 seats, and each functional area can meet the needs of holding more than 200 lectures and thousands of academic activities every year. The annual reception volume of readers can reach 4 million.
