Hunan Institute of Science and Technology ranked 634th in the country in 2022. In 2007, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Hunan Institute of Building Materials merged with Hengyang Branch of Hunan University and was upgraded to a provincial-level public undergraduate college.

The school has three campuses, covering an area of 1.400 mu and a building area of 560,000 square meters. The library has more than 6.5438+0.64 million paper books. There are currently 19466 full-time students. Faculty 1320, including full-time professors 1 12, associate professors 3 12, and 908 doctors and masters.
